Their idea is NOT, not eating anything that was once alive, it is not eating animals.
So technically vegans are vegetarians when it comes to their eating habits, they do not eat meat, fish, or poultry.
What makes them Vegans, as opposed to simply vegetarians is that in addition to being vegetarian, they do not use other animal products and by-products such as eggs, dairy products, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics, and soaps derived from animal products.
