What has this got to do with concealed carry laws? Precisely what concealed carry law helped this woman have a gun inside her own home?

Great bit of video.  I have to wonder what lie the guy came up with for the holding cell.

Thadius,

I am a gun owner and am all in favor of what she did
but I don't think it has anything to do with "concealed carry".

On this website  http://www.shortnews.com/start.cfm?id=72835
I found this:

Leda Smith, 85, Springhill Township, PA, began keeping a .22 caliber pistol by her bed after neighbors had their house broken into. Monday afternoon, that pistol paid dividends. She heard someone breaking into her house, and grabbed the pistol.

When she found a 17-year-old in her house, she pulled the gun on him, and made him call the police.

"I just walked right on past him to the bedroom and got my gun, I said, 'What are you doing in my house?' He just kept saying he didn't do it."

The 17-year-old, who was not identified because of his age, will be charged with attempted burglary. "It was exciting," Smith said. "I just hope I broke up the (burglary) ring because they have been hitting a lot of places around here."

Which means she was not carrying it, she came home and found him inside.
And she was very lucky he had not already found it.

That was most definitely a .22 revolver.  Nice little piece, too.  Not necessarily a manstopper, but apparently enough to stop a dumb punk breaking into her house.  He's actually sorta lucky.  .22 bullets tend to bounce around inside the body a lot.

Typical.   First you bend over,
then you accuse me of being a tease.

You should be disciplined for that

A .22 will kill you.
One killed Robert Kennedy.

I think that carrying a handgun in a purse is just silly.

Hello Mr. Mugger, will you wait why I prepare to defend myself.

Nah, keep it close to your heart with the safety on.

Sarcasm or not, Vendeval, it actually works quite well!  And so do those nifty lil 2 shot Lady's Pistols - I've had both .22 and 9mm short in that style - which were originally intended to be strapped to the thigh via a garter holster.

As far as the OP - personally I think it's great that she  managed to stop the lil snot in the act.

People assume that a large caliber is necessary to kill you.  They're wrong in that assumption.  A good shot from a .22 is just as effective as a good shot from a .44.  Axel, you make a good point about .22 rounds - they DO tend to play pingpong while in and enclosed space like the human body.  Which ups the potential for damage quite a bit.  Even if the shot doesn't kill outright, the chances of it bouncing off any of your 200+ bones and nicking an artery or lodging in a critical organ are much higher.  Granted, the larger cal will kill most folks outright simply from the size of the hole made on the way through.... but dead is dead, either way.

Personally - I prefer the 9mm and .45 simply because there's less chance over the .22 that someone will survive to try and Sue Me for defending myself against their unlawful actions.  If I'm ever forced to actually Use any of the weapons I own in such a manner, I intend to make damn sure that there's only One side of the story to be told by someone who was actually There.  MINE.
