All I can say about that is: with all the jokes I heard about Hillary being the real one in charge when Clinton was in office, I surely don't want Cindy McCain running this country.

Wow. A quick google search for "McCain lies" shows over 6 million hits. Yikes.

Never tried that before...interesting.  Though I don't think I want to wade through all of it.

Results 1 - 10 of about 14,300,000 for obama's lies.

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,010,000 for mccains lies

and for you bush lovers out there.
Results 1 - 10 of about 300,000 for bush's lies

Why is it, Bush has the least?  Something is seriously flawed here.

housesub4you -> RE: McCain unsure... (8/21/2008 11:21:24 AM)

They mentioned this in the news report I saw.  But as a couple they own 4 places to live, and the others (some say 7) are investments.

It's not that he answered he did not know, but that he still feels with all those millionss he is the same as the common man that troubles me.  It sure seems like the pot calling the kettle black when McCain supports say because Obama is worth 4 million he is out of touch and an elitiest.  If you and your wife are worth a cool 100 million, you're not an average person in this country either.

Smith117 -> RE: McCain unsure... (8/21/2008 11:23:51 AM)

I think most, if not all in government stopped being "common folk" long ago.

Because Bush has the numbers changed by the CIA

He doesn't think we cling to religion and guns. . . We actually do.

I'm in the process of getting a CHL as we speak. Not so much on the religion part though, except "eye for an eye."

Mercnbeth -> RE: McCain unsure... (8/21/2008 12:18:10 PM)

Damn - I remember when being successful, and dare I say - rich, was something to aspire. However, with the reward of failure being a key platform in this campaign, along with the punishment of more taxes on success; I can see why this is an argument for those seeking to bring forward a failure rewarding, defeatist agenda.

Using envy and hatred of wealth and success as a key campaign issue. As stated in the OP "And this is how people want to lead this country? Wow."

Sanity -> RE: McCain unsure... (8/21/2008 12:20:27 PM)

Yeah it's terrible - people can get rich here. Forget letting them eat cake, make them all starve.

Actually, my OP was referencing the senior moment. What's next if he's elected? "You'll have to defer to my wife about how many nukes we have, but I think I just accidently launched some."

My OP wasn't a misdeed. It showed an old man whose memory is going and who should not be put in charge. Thadius, on the other hand, likes to post those silly youtube replies but has yet to own up to anything asked of him regarding the republican party.

Good afternoon, sorry I wasn't here all day to reply to the rest of your comments.

The first example I gave was Obama, not being able to figure out 3 little buttons  for voting, not being sure of what they meant.  There is a huge diference between that and misdialing a phone number, they are seperated, they are color coded, and only 3 of them  Yes, No, or Present.  Perhaps that is too difficult for him to figure out, or was it that he didn't understand the legislation that he was voting on.... understand that point now?

The second example is another example of not being able to keep track of what he voted on, trying to cover it up, and then calling others liars for pointing out his own lies, and then finally admitting to them.  Still no apologies by the way.  I won't even touch the topic that it is in reference to because that is an entirely different debate.

Now to your original post, you are suggesting that because he was not sure of exactly how many properties were owned by he and his wife, that he is some how incompetent.  You do realize that his wife has a hell of a lot of holdings, and that he doesn't partake in that part of the finances? He stated that he wasn't sure exactly how many but would have his staff get the correct information for those that were interested.  This seems to be a logical answer, and perhaps even a humble one, admitting he didn't know and offering to get the information, seems much more sensible than shooting from the hip.

Finally, to the question posed.  I believe the Republicans have fucked up royally with the ammount of spending they have proposed, passed, and allowed in the budgets they were responsible for.  That covers a pretty big number of fuck ups, and was covered in one sentence.  The minutia is covered daily here by others, so why should I add to it?  Since, I think you are asking for something McCain specific, I would point to his fuckup with the McCain-Kennedy bill, I am not all that sure that he has changed his opinion on immigration, and it is something I hold against him.

Just one last point, the number of folks bashing Republicans compared to those that bash the Democrats around here is a pretty big difference.  So there is much more new information to add about Obama.

How's that?

What do you attribute the 57 states, 10,000 killed by a tornado, being born before his parents met, or not knowing what town he was in, to?

See my above post about the reason for needing to verify how many properties they own.

pahunkboy -> RE: McCain unsure... (8/21/2008 2:30:33 PM)

I decided I no longer own a house. It is more like an accessaroy  to my outfit.   hence I want my real estate tax payment back.

I STILL have not completed my tax appeal.  I have 8 pages.

Maybe not, there's always hope that the majority of the country wises up and votes for the best man. Then McCain can retire and relax at one of the houses he doesn't know he has.

Voting for the best man means Obama will never be President.

I'm ok with that.

I attribute those to what they were. A guy roaming the country non-stop speaking several times a day/week/month, etc. and being so tired he just says erroneous things. I think we've all been that tired before, at least I know I have.

thishereboi -> RE: McCain unsure... (8/21/2008 3:46:43 PM)

OMFG...One of the best, Now that is funny.

I understand that you weren't there and are going off 2nd. 3rd, or 4th hand information. And if you want to talk about buttons, how about we talk about Florida and the infamous 2000 election? Everyone makes mistakes and they learn. If he STILL didn't know the buttons, I'd call that a problem. As it is, it was a bone-head moment and we ALL have those. Those who claim they don't are lying.

"and then finally admitting to them."

Great, so can we move past the incident or are you using that incident as evidence that no other president or presidential candidate has lied or tried to cover something up?

Seems to me they asked how many houses HE had. Not "properties managed by his wife." Seems a pretty simple answer to me. But I guess not.

Cop out answer. If you're going to post youtube videos and news articles showing what a bad, bad man Obama is. I want the same for McCain. Don't gloss over them the way the rest of the republicans do, give me specific examples with links like you did for Obama.

Not from where I'm sitting. I have seen headlines about Obama being "bad" on this board than the reverse.

thishereboi -> RE: McCain unsure... (8/21/2008 3:48:28 PM)

Yes I did, but I don't make a habit of it. I will admit, your not as bad as some. Not a therapist either, so I guess I don't get to hear about the dreams.

I don't see how you are claiming this to be a senior moment.  He didn't even make a mistake, he said he would have to have his staff check.
I love how this is being spun.  I also like the way he responded to Obama about his attacks on this issue.

Obama jumped today to call McCain on this issue.

quote:

"Somebody asked John McCain, 'How many houses do you have?' And he said, 'I'm not sure, I'll have to check with my staff,'" Obama said with a tone of incredulousness at an outdoor event here.
"If you don't know how many houses you have, then it's not surprising that you might think the economy is fundamentally strong," he said. "But if you're like me, and you got one house, or you are like the millions of people who are struggling right now to keep up with their mortgage so they don't lose their home, then you might have a different perspective."

McCain's campaign response
quote:

"Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses?"
"Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people 'cling' to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who's in touch with regular Americans?"

Millionaires arguing with millionaires about who is worse off than the other... it's gonna be a fun ride to watch.
