Alas, once a drug addict, always a drug addict: addiction doesn't go away. It just becomes controlled... if the addict does his homework. So, either Limbaugh is as high as a kyte to spout the shit he comes up with, or he's just brain-damaged. Or both. Either way, he's absolutely moronic and a great figure of fun for thinking people. Let's not underrate the comedic value of hate. You know better than anybody why you would wish to defend this kind of individual.

A man who manages to attract enough listeners to earn himself a $400 million contract must be either stoned or brain-damaged?

Dislike his politics if you will, but given that his extrapolation from "above my pay grade" to Biden as the VP nominee was spot-on, it is hard to see a cogent argument for any cerebral malfunction on his part.

Rush Limbaugh is a latter-day Thomas Paine--extreme in his rhetoric, shoddy in his theory, but with a keen eye and ear for what punches peoples' buttons.  He is a propagandist and raconteur; his aim is to get people worked up--and apparently he is rather successful at doing that.

Personally, I can't stand to listen to him--I despise talk radio--but I respect the man for succeeding in his chosen medium.

Politics aside, he is everything Al Franken wishes he could be.

I don't respect people just because they are popular: in fact, I usually take popularity as a warning sign to keep my wits about: the most 'popular' kids in the playground tend to be the most wankerish. Each to their own: your running to Limbaugh's defence engages only you, and your personal taste.

Until I saw the word "Limbaugh" it looked as though you had to be writing about Barack Obama

I didn't expect anything less from you [8|] .

#1. Not seeing the contract, we only have Limbaugh and his publicist to trust for that, don't we?

#2. ClearChannel. Loyal Bushies. Basically, They're giving rush 400 Million of their shareholder's money as a "Thanks" for being Minister of Propaganda. That's not what I'd call an achievement.

Remember, People PAY to listen to Howard Stern. Rush gives the show away to AM Stations with nothing better to broadcast, and then sells patent-sinus-remedies to the rubes.

There's nothing sadder than an impotent, self-loathing Morton Downey Jr. Wannabe.

Bill Hicks had it down PERFECTLY.

(quick reply)

An excerpt from the NYTimes Magazine several weeks back (I was surprised no one commented on it.)
(after a tour of his 24,000 sq ft main house)

"Limbaugh can afford to live the way he wants. When we met he was on the verge of signing a new eight-year contract with his syndicator, Premiere Radio Networks. He estimated that it would bring in about $38 million a year. To sweeten the deal, he said he was also getting a nine-figure signing bonus. (A representative from Premiere would not confirm the deal.) “Do you know what bought me all this?” he asked, waving his hand in the general direction of his prosperity. “Not my political ideas. Conservatism didn’t buy this house. First and foremost I’m a businessman. My first goal is to attract the largest possible audience so I can charge confiscatory ad rates. I happen to have great entertainment skills, but that enables me to sell airtime.”

The average AM radio station reserves 18 to 20 minutes each hour for advertising, devotes about 5 minutes an hour to news and spends the rest of the time on other content. Limbaugh is not only paid by the stations, but his program also owns five minutes of every hour of airtime, which it can then sell to advertisers.

Some simply run their usual ads. Others use Limbaugh as their pitchman, which costs them a premium and a long-term commitment. And lately he has created a new option. At a much higher rate he will weave a product into his monologue (To a caller who said he took two showers after voting for Clinton in Operation Chaos, Limbaugh responded: “If you had followed my advice and gotten a Rinnai tankless water heater, you wouldn’t have needed to take two showers. And I’ll tell you why. . . .”)"

It was an interesting read all around.

And another impressive display of intolerance on a forum supposedly dedicated to kink of all sorts.

Yes, I am intolerant of Drug Addicts and people who violate sacred oaths, like their marriage oaths. ( Remember, Rush is a THREE TIME LOSER! )
