Yeah, within the parameters that Ronald Reagan was real.  He was for change.
So is Obama.

OK, I follow that at a dipshit level, that is the greater part of america.

So, will I have to pay more taxes?

LOL.

Oh, the GOP will throw Lieberman under the bus eventually, doesn't matter if they win or lose. That's just the way they are: Look at how many of their own they were willing to throw away in years past. (Especially when it was a juicy sex scandal.) They won't be treating their "pet democrat" any differently. The moment his usefulness as a photo-op for bipartisanship has faded, Ol' Joe will find himself on the outside, with no friends in either party.

I'm sure many of them are hoping that when the time comes, they'll personally be the ones to pull the lever, dunking him into the tank of ill-tempered sea bass with laser beams attached to their friggin' heads...

True enough.  I'll rephrase:

Where does the Speaker of the House get off making such comments about a member of the US Senate?  That's not her side of the Capitol building.

Interesting. After seven and a half years of GETTING EVERY LAST FUCKING THING THAT THEY WANTED, republicans seem to think that they are now utterly and forever immune to critisisim, and dissent? Very interesting indeed.

The pendulum has reached the top of it's arc now. It's about to swing back... hard.

Well, Lieberman won re-election as a Senator running as an Independent after the Democrats bailed on him in the primaries....so I'm not sure how you define striking out.

As for Lieberman being used and tossed aside...are you saying the Republicans are going to win or that Lieberman is some sort of stalking horse for the Democrats?

..neither.. more like a puppet

Right, Bipo.  Cause, God forbid a politician should EVER put what he believes is the good of the country ahead of what the party says.  You know, the kind of stuff that amazing young man was talking about at the Democratic convention four years ago?  Shame he turned out to be just an empty shirt...

Ronald Reagan with his empty head made it, so the Horatio Alger (Hiss) sort of story stiull evinces emotions, Newt Gingrich and all not withstanding

Thank you for the quote and link, Celeste.  If Senator Lieberman is willing to make controversial public remarks he has to know that consequences may follow.  Such is life on the Beltway.

she has the 'right' to make any comments to anyone she likes. .

I don't have a problem with her making comments, but threats are different. The right to make the comment that someone else doesn't have the right to make a comment, doesn't make a lot of sense.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a politician to make a lot of sense. That sorta breath play will kill ya! [8D]

Yea, your right, real hard limit for me.

If Senate Majority Leader Reid wants to discipline a member of the Democratic caucus (and Senator Lieberman, while technically an Independent, caucuses with the Democrats) in the Senate for breaking ranks, that is his perogative (and some would argue his duty).

However, the last time I checked, Pelosi is not Senate Majority Leader.  Unless she was recently appointed the Democratic Party's theologian and Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the (Democratic) Faith, threatening Lieberman with Senatorial sanction more than a bit above her pay grade.

pelosi is a fucking idiot. she isn't worth her salt anymore than any other politician is.

Unfortunately we cannot vote for someone other than a politican... [:D]

Irishknight -> RE: Pelosi Threatens Senator For Criticizing Obama (8/24/2008 6:13:20 AM)

Politics, by the very nature of it, seems to corrupt all who enter it.  Some are corrupt before they get in and some become that way.  Those who don't tend to have mysterious accidents and illnesses.  There needs to be a term limit for these power hungry bastards to end the stranglehold of idiocy.  If you've been in Congress for 20 years, even if you still have good intentions (unlikely) then you have NO FUCKING CLUE what the people want or even who they are.

As for Pelosi, of course she will stand on her right to free speech to threaten someone else for exercising his.  In her mind, only Democrats have rights.  Republicans and Independants are subhumans who are not smart enough to ever have a good idea.

farglebargle -> RE: Pelosi Threatens Senator For Criticizing Obama (8/24/2008 8:33:54 AM)

Oh, please. Isn't it clear enough that both the "Democrats" and "Republicans" are both fucking you over, and neither give a shit about you?

McCain is a running joke -- shit they're talking about Ron Paul getting a surprise nomination instead -- the only way McCain's election is believable is -- running a black guy against him. People will *believe* that Obama got defeated that way.

Here's the script.

BUSH43 is needed to take the fall for destroying Freedom and Liberty. Lies, Spies and Torture -- to make GE ( who owns NBC ) and Westinghouse ( who owns CBS ) ( ABC is owned by the whores at Disney, they broadcast whatever the other 2 guys pay them to broadcast ) a shitload of money.

But, JOHN MCCAIN has a hell of a lot of support. So, the setup is: MCCAIN agrees with the people really in control that he'll lay back for 8 years, and then take a 4 year seat as President as a retirement benefit.

Ok, but MCCAIN is a crazy joke. Shit --- He's a POW who voted to torture prisoners! And so wealthy that he doesn't know how many houses he owns. ( which is understandable -- seeing how old he is ) ( Hell, wasn't the Rove swiftboating of McCain in 2000, that MCCAIN was messed up in the head from his captivity? )

Ok, so ... How do we make it believable enough that McCain could beat anyone else.

Remember -- The votes aren't counted. So that's not the problem. The problem is how to make it believable enough so that enough people will BELIEVE the votes are counted. ( They're not. )

Run a black guy. People will think that everyone else just didn't want to pull a lever for the black guy.

Now, the cynical will contend that THAT is why Jack Ryan's campaign imploded exactly when it did. To set Obama up in the Senate for this. He'll lose, of course, and retain his Senate seat.. .And who knows... Maybe in 2012, he'll actually get a shot. Not that he *won't* do exactly what he was told to do.

Think of Zapruter as a training film for future presidents... "Any Questions?"

THAT MUCH we can agree on.
