LadyHibiscus -> What do you do for a living? (11/22/2005 7:53:53 PM)

Just wondering........ I read lots of folks' remarks about their work, or someone's credentials, but I'd like to know what you actually do to pay the bills, etc. Hopefully this isn't a taboo topic----I know here in my neck of the woods folks positively blanch when asked what they do, as if someone will track them down at work!

I am a CPA tax specialist. I used to be a teacher of remedial reading and math, but I got sick of trying to put a bandaid on a hemorrhage. (Yes, I did teach in Detroit, how did you guess? :) ) I still teach classes in advanced tax topics. I am still faintly amazed that taxes turned out to be my niche, but there ya go......

I'm a semi-retired attorney (still have a small private practice,) and I teach Mythology, my passion, at a public high school.

Do much in the Norse Mythology? I would like to banter that back and forth, offline. If you've a mind to do it.

I have a degree in psychology, specializing in relationship counseling.

Now, I make grown men cry. Which means that I'm a corporate travel manager for a large corporation.

I do many things, most of which I don't talk about except to close friends.
I will say I do however happen to have a PHD.
I work a job..and a career and many side hobbies that bring in money as well.

Essentially I'm well rounded.

Currently, I design and implement large scale computer networks. Roughly 15% of the internet's traffic passes through networks that I, or my co-workers, manage.

In the past I've been a machinist, research statistician, web designer, general contractor, airline ramp manager, chef, EMT, loudspeaker designer, leatherworker, welder/fabricator, electronics technician, locksmith, construction tool salesperson and armed security guard. In all that time, above all else, I've been a student.

Just your average polymath.

When I left school I worked in a bank as a typist/receptionist - back in the days when you actually used a typewriter! [8|] Then I got married to a farmer and raised 2 children while running the business. I've been a volunteer librarian and a teacher aide, and done work experience as an office assistant.

Now I'm Master's official carer we are both on pensions. I'd love to be able to work part time but Master's condition varies so much from day to day [&o]

I'm a medical lab technician, but before that, I worked in veterinary medicine, and before that, I did secretarial/bookkeeping work.

On the weekends, I sing with an oldies/dance band locally.

Right now I do child care. I will be quitting that next month and embarking on a whole new thing. Might even go back to school. The world is my oyster right now. [:)]

I work in the Customer Service Field. I have been apart of this for over 20 years. It's not always an easy profession, but extremely rewarding for a person like me.
I get to meet new people every single day! Being the social butterfly that i am........gawwwddd i like people. *grinz*

Happy Pre-Turkey Day!

I've been a Marine officer, a journalist and photojournalist, a university professor, the VP of a multinational, the owner/manager of an adult services company and a book author. All my life I carefully socked away five to ten percent of my income and now I'm enjoying the comfortable life courtesy of Fidelity Investments long before Uncle Sam was due to start supporting me.

shylittleheart -> RE: What do you do for a living? (11/23/2005 5:36:40 AM)

I work from home, doing custom sewing for people and working online with major auction sites. Im a 24/7 slave and it is just easier working from home and making sure the house runs smooth so Master doesnt have to worry about anything when He gets home from work. Hoping one day to have a site to sell my one of kind designs.

Not only that but also do so very cute country crafts and do quite well at shows with them. This girl lives to create.
May not be rich but I am happy.
