Greetings to the OP:
Some folks like "play" to mean "punishment". Some people like "play" to be reward. If someone beat my ass every time I made a mistake, I'd be making mistakes all the time! I want to hear "good job", "good girl", "I am pleased" and THEN get a good spanking as my reward. I don't think I could be with a Dom that spanked me for mistakes. It would mess with my head too much.

i prefer to call that a huge turn-off rather. Slave's switich to the teacher's position in this sense and even with permission does question Femdomity of the scene from my point of view.
