With Obama Faltering, Do We Need Al Gore?

So is the Democratic party truly behind "Change we can believe in" or not?

Just how solid is Obama's base of support, when his fans in the media describe his rebuttals to McCain's ads as "the sissy defense"?

Why are Democratic-leaning talking heads talking up excuses for Obama's defeat in November, before their convention has even started?

Seems to me there either is no "change", or no "belief".

DomKen -> RE: With Obama Faltering, Do We Need Al Gore? (8/24/2008 11:37:35 AM)

Seems to me you aren't going to support any democratic candidate and should therefore stick to supporting your prefered candidate rather than trying, rather ham handedly, to stir up trouble and doubt in other candidates supporters.

You might try convincing people of the superiority of your chosen candidate instead. For instance you could extoll the virtues of having professional lobbyists actually being the top level of White House staff. Or maybe you could explain how appointing another "strict constructionist" supreme court justice and overturning Roe v Wade will be good for women's health. How about explaining how an invasion of Iran won't be quite the same spectacular disaster as the invasion of Iraq? Maybe how the young man, at the tender age of 51, exercised poor judgement when he tried to influence federal regulators for Keating but since has become a banking and economics expert?

Are you going to say the same thing to the democrats who start threads against McCain?

This is the way of  the Republicans' end
the Republicans' end

This is the way of  the Republicans' end
Not with a cheer
but a whimper

(I'm enjoying watching them reap the fruits of their own game.  Their death spiral is AWSOME!)

You know, I could say all democrats are bitter little things, based on your posts, but I don't like to judge whole groups of people based on the actions of some. Not sure why you do. Do you get some kind of pleasure from it? Does it make you feel better about yourself?

Seems to me the doubts are already there, and already being discussed.  I can't stir up anything that's not pre-existing.

Glad someone else finally notices.

Bingo here too, but there's no extolling a man's virtues when he has next to none: this is where reactionaries start playing the mud slinging game, because they cannot trumpet anything positive about the candidate they support.

Marc Antony's funeral oration from Julius Caesar says it best:
quote:

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him;
The evil that men do lives after them,
The good is oft interred with their bones,
So let it be with Caesar

We are not energized by the saintly qualities of our allies, but by the sinful natures of our adversaries.  It is human nature.

It is the order of things.

DomKen, and how about explaining why Obama wants to "double foreign aid" and further enrich a whole bunch of people in Washington including lawyers, lobbyists, and corporations?
Foreign aid should be ended and that money returned to the Taxpayers to whom it rightly belongs!
Or,.....how he'd "get our Troops out of Iraq" only to put them in a new war in *Darfur* where we would be bogged down for decades!
What the hell does *Darfur* have to do with us?
Obama would be the "extension of Bush" not McCain!
He wants to do the same things as Bush only more!

Yes, because I love to see "come-uppins".  And you ass-sume I'm a democrat. I'm an independant.

Now, you could just as easily be writing about the Bush-bashers.

I think some on the left are finally starting to get it... whether they're aware of it or not.

Hey kittin, i`ve noticed as well ! To be fair though, there are those at both ends of the political spectrum that use this sad tactic.

Riiiight...and 'Extremism in defense of... is no vice', and 'My party right or wrong', and 'All right thinking people will agree', and
'Winning by any means neccessary'... sounds like condoning to me.

Popeye, i dont think you need worry, if policy is anything like over here, troops withdrawn from Iraq ( With triumphal fanfare ) are just heading to the mess that is Afghanistan instead.

I actually agreed that going into Afghanistan was a just cause. A lack of troops and a seemingly inept and corrupt government there is doing much to aid the Taleban though.
