If he declined the slot the blame could be laid at his feet, as it would be happening live.  Know what I mean?

           The Clintons might be thinking that way, but if he took the knife in the back with a "thank you, ma'am, may I have another?" would she want that sort of pussy on the ticket with her?

           How are the swing voters going to feel about those sort of shenanigans?

Thadius -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 4:05:11 PM)

Many of the swing voters already feel like shenanigans have been in place, just look at the disparity in delgates received from places like Texas and Pensylvania, compared to what he got for much smaller caucass states.

   <snip> someone will explain how they would get Barry to take the Veep slot?  That would seem the only way to have any hope of retaining his supporters. <snip>

Does this anticipation make you:

1. sexually excited
2. blood-thirsty
3. eager
4. alert
5. all of the above

       You forgot "none of the above," Kitten... [sm=popcorn.gif]

No she hasn't/

I've said it before... She ain'r sung yet.

Will you be supporting her if she decides to continue her run?

Vendaval -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 4:59:18 PM)

This is going to be a very interesting convention, I almost want to be there in person.

Thadius -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 5:07:41 PM)

The question is, will they stick to party rules or come up with a gimmick to hand it to one or the other.  As a contested convention has not been very good for the candidate that wins.  Adlai Stevenson (won the nomination after 3 ballots) lost to Ike, and Dewey(won on the 3 as well) and lost to Truman.

I will be watching streaming coverage of this thing, whenever it isn't on the tube.  This may be just as exciting as watching the olympics and trying to figure out what the hell was that judge watching giving her a 10 after she landed on her ass....

Vendaval -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 5:10:27 PM)

Ohhellyeah!  That score was total bullshit.  No way should she have scored a 10 on that, host country bonus points and favoritism at its worst.

         Shall we dump the multiple guess then, and try a more free-form answer?

         I think it would be a very bad move for the Democrats.  It would only deepen the already negative sentiment against Hillary, and allow McCain to flip back on his pandering with the Fundy right.  The impact on the youth vote, so passionate for Barry, would be tremendous.  They may not be the pivot point in November, but their energy is one hell of an asset in October.

       I think Hillary (and Bill) are placing personal ambition above the good of the party, and above the good of the country.  I think it will backfire very badly, and that we might just get to see one of Hillary's tantrums before all is said and done.

       I think a Clinton (the 2nd) Administration would be a catastrophe, and that her poll numbers would live below the standard set by the current officeholders.  The new Republican majorities in the House and Senate in '10 would probably pull off what they couldn't do with Bill.

      I can't think of one reason for Obama to go along.  He goes back to the Senate, becomes the most effective bi-partisan legislator in the joint, builds that resume, maybe finishes his first term in Washington, and takes on the McCain successor in '12.

       How does it make me feel, Kitten?  My money is already on the McCain ticket, even if my heart isn't.  I'd be overjoyed if I wanted to see the destruction of the Democrats as a viable party, but mostly, I just want them to get their heads out of their asses.  The feeling is similar to when I get updates on my old friend, "Bob."

       Bob was a decent guy, kind of a dumbass, until he started staying intoxicated 24/7, on booze and speed.  I "loaned" him $40 one night and haven't seen him since.  He went way down, got busted and sent to rehab, seemed to be pulling himself together, married a woman he met in church...  Next update, he's divorced, living in a camper and drinking again, then clean, then unemployed, then diagnosed with some weird awful cancer, with complications, living on welfare while he goes through chemo.  It's a damn shame, beyond my ability to alter.  That's the same way I feel about the US Democratic Party.  I miss them, wish it could be like before, but they've gone completely wrong in the head, and keep bringing shit and bad luck down on themselves.

     See?  Not so hard.

"Clinton to release her delegates to Obama"

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/24/democrats.convention/

This is a result of boredom.

There are other aliments at work also.

Those that would spread false rumors or make shit up,trying to be spoilers.The GOP wouldn`t do that,would they?[8|]

Those in the media that love a sexx-sayyy story or who just parrot the GOP.

And a lot of folks who don`t know what the fuck they`re talking about,who don`t let that stop them.

Next week,there`ll be plenty of real news and happenings, to keep folks to busy for speculations.

Thadius -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 7:29:58 PM)

I will believe it when I see it.

I did find this part of that article interesting though...

quote:

But Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois, an Obama supporter, told CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday: "This campaign is not about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton."

"His campaign is about George Bush and four more years of George Bush under John McCain,"

Priceless.

TheHeretic -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 7:43:57 PM)

       Like you never run with a theory, just for the hell of it, O59.  It's a hot, sticky weekend before the convention.   And can you say with 100% certainty she isn't capable of trying something?

          Maybe the engaged ones, Thad, those who really pay attention to the process, but delegate selection is likely too "inside baseball" for the majority.  Even then, Hillary's camp was aware of how the systems worked (or damn well should have been).  Stealing the convention is a whole different story.  Even the most ignorant voter can get an easy handle on that.

Owner59 -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 7:58:50 PM)

Of course not.No one knows the future.

.

But I`ve seen the Hillary haters,the Nixon avengers,the neo-con historical revisionists\hoodwinkers,the Swifties,the Obama`s a terrorist and Hillary`s spreading the rumor,rumor.I`ve seen Carters debate notes, mysteriously in the hands of Ronald Reagen,a legally stolen election in 2000,etc.

And that`s just what we know about.

I don`t know the future.

But I know what republicans are capable of.

Thadius -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 8:02:18 PM)

I agree with you about the general apathy of the common voter.  However, there has been a whole bunch of noise made about it this time, so I am guessing that there is at least a basic knowledge of the complaint.  I might even suggest that the lack of performance (getting a lead) since the end of the primaries might be a valid excuse for some delegates to surprise everybody.

I honestly believe that if the roll call vote came out in her favor, there is no way in hell she would lay down and play nice.  It just goes against everything I have ever seen of her.  If on the other hand it is in the favor of Obama, she will concede with a very impressive speech and set plans in motion for 2012.

TheHeretic -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 8:03:17 PM)

        And I've seen blatantly forged documents on the CBS Evening News.  What's your point?

Owner59 -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 8:17:54 PM)

Any proof a democrat was behind it?

There`s a million horrible things republicans have been accused of.

Does this mean they`re all true,Scooter?

Thadius -> RE: OMFG!!!! (8/24/2008 8:19:10 PM)

Not at all Sandy.
