Nothing kills a joke faster than trying to deconstruct it. The list Admin is basically implying that, because of all the "drama" shown in these discussions, that they have become something like a soap opera. It's is a play on the title "As the World Turns" which is one of the longest running soaps in American TV. The earlier poster is quite right: "D" rings are one of the most common types of steel rings found on leather gear, because the flattened part of the "D" allows a strap to be riveted on either side of it without stressing the leather. The subtitle is meant, I'm sure, as a affectionate joke on our getting a little too wound up over some of the topics. Sheesh.
