Electile Dysfunction: the inability to become aroused over any of the choices for President put forth by either party in the 2008 election year.

The only way I get worked up over them is when I can't decide who's picture to put in my toilet before I take a crap [sm=agree.gif]

As one out side the USA ... and a real fan of democracy purely because all the alternatives suck ... i am asking that you (the American voter) do take up your democratic right (responsibility) consider each candidate, make a selection and vote ... vote.

Whoever leads the USA has a great influence over my country, again it sucks.  I can't control that it's a necessity in this ever shrinking world ... but i'm not alone in the anger i feel when such a comparatively small percentage of what is often labelled as the greatest democracy in the world actually vote.

The last 'select few US voters' obviously had no idea what they were doing.  Yet it's often a lottery at best not just in the US .. and i can understand that the pale old guy vs the young dark guy have little else to differentiate them ... just make your best assessment ...

please vote, many across the world have no say, don't waste the small voice you have ...

Don't some of the dead vote there too?

BlackPhx -> RE: It's A National Epidemic! (8/26/2008 10:29:59 AM)

Julieor Sarah;  it is a sad thing when entire states of voters get disenfranchised or when someone Steals (BUYs) an election. Few will admit to voting for Bush either time, but people did. I wasn't one of them. Unfortunately they keep giving us a choice between Coke or Pepsi, Ice Tea doesn't even make it to the final ballot most times.

Frankly...I would rather have a Vodka Gimlet... but failing that, give me the one with the working prostrate..if sex is 75% in the mind and his prostrate is working so he can have sex..at least we have a hope the mind is working if the Pri** is..of course there was Clinton...sigh.

Thanks BlackPhx, the US voting system is a mystery to me ... the Electoral College etc ... and that it's voluntary to vote!

if you drive a car you must have a licence in most countries ... for safety.  i sincerely believe if you live in a democacry it should be compulsory to vote ... or leave the democracy/country.  it's compulsory to vote here ... or rather have your name marked off the electoral role, then handed the ballots, if you leave them blank or how you fill them out is upto you ... then place them in the ballot box.  a very small price to pay ...

if we'd had the problem with the vote count you had with Bush, we'd just have another election ... don't understand why that just didin't happen.

it seems that the politicians only cater for those that vote ... if it's compuslory to vote, the politicians have to cater for the whole electorate ... so much of the 'campaign funds' in the US seem to be focused on motivating people to vote ... that doesn't happen here.  The AEC (Australian Electoral Commission) does that, and fines you if you don't.  Like if you drive without a licence.

yes Clinton,  i didn't care what he did with Monica from the perspective of being a President.  I objected because he put himself into a position where he could be blackmailed, and under the influence of others ... overall i feel he was a good President, lousy husband, but that's from looking here, outside the square of the US.  GW ... is still bounded by that square ... he needs to look at the global board.

(NB:  memo to self ... try not to step up on the soap box so quickly.)

Frankly I hate the Electoral College and the Delegates/Super Delegates crap. IF people are going to go to the polls and vote then their vote should be counted, not shuffled in a pile and subjected to the vote of the electoral college and delegates. It is I suspect the single greatest reason people don't vote. They don't feel that what they have to say or who they choose counts when it can be over ridden by the courts, by the delegates and by the Electoral college. While obstensively the Electoral college is supposed to vote the way the popular vote went, I have to wonder just how often it does seeing the base steal Bush pulled. He should have been a baseball player instead of a cheerleader.
