Well, Kalista, you might not like this reply as well as others, but it's getting thrown into the mix anyway. The Rapture is bullshit, but The Revelation of John is another matter. This is prophecy, a record of visions, rendered as best he could without a reference to what he saw. It probably wasn't much different from the oddball precognitive dreams of so many, but on a far grander scale. The world described in those 1900 year old writings is the world we are heading directly for. The simple fact is, WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY FOR IT TO COME TO PASS. I don't like the NIV. Such visions deserve the richness of the King James prose, but I'm not going to quote from memory. He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, to receive a mark upon his right hand or on his forehead, so that none could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. A scannable cash free economy? 18 months maybe? Instant global communication to allow For three and a half days, men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze upon their bodies. Got that right now. Here's the part they leave out in all those sermons from 13. Before the Antichrist is able to assume control, and trigger the final battle, two-thirds of the people on the planet are already dead from war, disease, and disaster. Seems like a pretty clear sign that the end is near... assuming you are among the survivors. Worry then. Live now.
