I've only edited one once because a friend had asked me to take their name off of a post. So, I'm certainly no expert. I feel you make yourself a fraud when you change things. Why not proof-read prior to posting if that is why people change?

We have had several since the boards started who used to start a thread saying one thing. When everyone started arguing..they would go back and edit...so it looked like everyone was insane.

Anyway, to edit I believe all you need to do is re-visit your post and click on the edit button.

i have been guilty of editing posts for spelling errors, grammar errors and because i felt i had insulted a member, and regretted doing so. However, because of the conundrum sub4hire has mentioned, i have been told that after an hour, the "edit" function will not be available for a post. This new policy will certainly make me more cirsumspent; i hope to avoid insulting anyone in the future. In the past, certain people/posts got my ire up and i posted while angry. i recommend that thread be ignored until one calms down....and bear in mind that erroneous information here is not the end of the world. i doubt we "make" any member do anything by virtue of posting.

Dear Stripps,
I have been told that I make some laugh, some shudder, some say WTF, but most often make some confused.......

Makingly,

I edit, but never for tone or erasure. Just for grammar/spelling (when I catch the mistakes, because some here are so testy about that stuff), and then sometimes I just do not care.

Same here, I will edit when I find spelling errors, or when I find that I did not say all that I wanted to say...or maybe I said it wrong and needed to clairify something. I often forget about the 'preview' button on the bottom because I am in too much of a hurry to say something
