ORIGINAL: slavejali When women have ultrasounds while pregnant, they are told to drink 2 litres of fluid in a short period of time, and depending on how busy the clinic is, they could be made wait hours before they can release it, they can get to a point where their back is aching and are really incredibly uncomfortable feeling like they will literally burst. The Doctors dont seem to worry about this too much, so agree with John Warren, i doubt a little "hold it" play is gonna do anyone very much damage, unless there is some other medically significant factor involved. Not to be contrary, slavejali .. but the prep for a transabdominal ultraound is to drink 4 glasses of water < 24 oz > not 2 liters of fluid. 2 liters is approx. 130 oz I am only pointing this out, as there may be some folks out there who may be facing having one and could freak out at those numbers. And for those who may need to go thru this procedure.... if anyone makes you wait more than 20 minutes after arrival... talk to the tech... they will tell you to empty a little urine. you can always " re fill" right before the procedure. There is also a transvaginal ultrasound, which requires no bladder filling and a much better picture of what is happening. Kinda like a CT Scan vs. a MRI. maybemaybenot
