You know what's really funny to me is how fashionable it is to make posts such as the one above.  You know what, I heard that when some sub in real life went to meet her dom, that he cut her up, put her in a pizza box, and tossed her into the river.  I sure am glad I don't do BDSM in real life.

But it's always so much fun slamming other people... especially when they are not even around to defend themselves.

MidMichCowboy -> RE: BDSM lifestyles in a Virtual Fantasy World (8/28/2008 5:05:51 PM)

In 1988, in grad school, some of us who are not into gaming, decided to write a game that included what we thought was a good dose of reality. We set up some sensors and feedback items for the person playing. When you got shot, you got a thump in the chest (not too gentle [;)] ), when you got to close to the fire, you felt a burn (electrodes are so cool), well ... you get the idea. The thing was a complete flop. So, I've developed the idea that people want to do this, because they can do it without any real committment or consequences.

I'll stick with reality.

Dead on.  The only thing I'd add though is that things can start "unreal" and end up "real".  Great that it reduces the barrier to entry.  That helped me get from then to now... whatever now is.  So for some, it's just a fantasy release with no real commitment or consequences.  You know what?  That's not such a bad thing either.  Some people watch movies.  Some read books.  And some play out BDSM fantasies online.  *shrugs*.  In truth MidMich, I'm guessing your statement "I'l stick with reality" isn't exactly correct. Almost everyone I know has some sort of escape-ism strategy for when life gets nasty... could be fishing, could be reading a book, watching a movie, could be knitting.  I'm just guessing that for you, it's somethign different than fantasy BDSM *laughs*

I have to admit though, the one thing that confuses me to no end is the online avatars that tell me that they also do BDSM for real... as in they are currently collared or have collared someone in a semi-permanent sort of way (so it's not that they are scratching an itch online that they currently can't fill offline).  As soon as it moved into my living room, it kind of faded out of my virtual life.  What would be the point there?  It's not a fantasy anymore.  Anymore, my avatar is a business person I use to make money with, not a dom.

Your right ... I do have escape.
I train and ride horses. I also get on my motorcycle and ride. It's relaxing. If you fall off, it hurts. You feel the wind in your face. When it rains, you get wet. When the sun is shining, you feel the warmth. It's real.

When I "take" a woman, I want to feel her skin, smell her scent, listen to her sounds, feel her touch, and capture her tear. That too is real.

SlapHappy1234 -> RE: BDSM lifestyles in a Virtual Fantasy World (8/29/2008 2:33:36 AM)

I, also, installed SL and tried to play but could not figure it out.
A few months later, I tried again.
I hated it.
It was a challange.
I tried one more time before I uninstalled it.
I found the College of Scripting, Music and Science and the Ivory Tower of Prims.

I learned how to use the controls, there and how to script and build.
 It was free.
It didn't cost anything.
If you really want to look good, you have to pay and buy stuff that people make, like better skin and clothes.
You can also buy a house or store for your business, etc.

While looking around, I was able to make a few friends who helped me and it was easy to find the sex rooms, how to jump on the poseballs to fuck,
(guys, just ask someone for a free cock before you try to have this
...cyber-sex-on-steroids)
 giggles.
I just used search and typed "sex" "orgy" "BDSM" "femDom", etc.
I learned more about BDSM than I ever wanted to know, I guess, and I am always learning more.
There are even BDSM groups which are dedicated to voice sex where people cum as the group listens.
That's fun.
We all sit around eating popcorn or whatever.
There is a whole BDSM community and if you don't spend too much time there, you can basically avoid drama.
Speaking of being warned
*winks*
I've never tried Gor in SL,
Nobody has had good experiences with Gor in SL that I know of.
Women, mostly, seem to have had bad experiences with Gor in there.
I didn't read the books, so, I've just not gone there.
I haven't missed it.

Anyhow, I work from home on my computer so I can leave SL running and play a little here and there or just listen when I am working.
It's been a few years and I still have lots of fun in SL,
surfing, skiing, boating, race car driving, clubbing, amusement park rides, skydiving, etc.
You can get paid for dancing all night,
(but stripping and escorting both pay much more, of course)
Flying becomes second nature.
My favorite thing about SL is the live music. A performer sings into a mic at home and their avitar is on the stage in real time, live. It's kinda cool.
Fun to listen to when I am busy doing other things at home in real life.

At this point, I make some real money in sl,
(!! yes, I mean, I make money there!!)
since I learned how to script and build, oh, and design clothing.
I employ 16 other avitars but not always the same ones 24/7.

I have a slaves, from each corner of the world.
And a nice "family" group of close friends.

The BDSM toys are endless, proving that creativity is alive and well.

However, God has the best graphics, in my opinion.
I'd rather go outside and play in real life.
I've always been an outdoor kid.
So, for me, it's more fun in the winter when it's too cold to enjoy the outdoors as much and when tv gets boring.
I have a great first life but SL is fun, and only in doses.

The only computer virtual game I've ever played was some Sims game my kids had years ago. I found it far too tedious and boring to bother.

I prefer the real deal. I've just got too interesting a real life to play with a pretend one online.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!
my experience as well! Except that my Sims family perished after becoming horribly depressed and confined to bed...all because i didn't spend enough time with them! Jeeeez! So now i am labeled a family killer in the Sims community[:(]

Once i tried to create an account with second life to see what it is and either Vista has issues with it or the security on my computer is so high, i could never get past registration! besides...like LaT, my real life is far to interesting even though i can see the appeal of fantasy - i prefer manifesting mine into reality!

Hi all,
Just trying to gather some opinions here. One of my favorite passtimes when not chatting and posting here is roleplaying the lifestyle in Secondlife. As many of you surely know, SL is a huge online virtual (mainly adult) world where folk can safely enact their fantasies. It has a huge BDSM community from all over the world which covers virtually everything from Gorean to Furry, Hypno to Medieval and so on. In my "second life", I play the role of a Master of Le Chateau in the 'Roissy - Story of O' sims.
Have any of you had experience of SL, good or bad?

Ed  :)

My first life preoccupies me 24/7.
I haven't time for a second.
Edited to add: akthough i did have some demented dom once who created me on Second Life as an avatar. I even had emails saying the box i had left on the bridge had been picked up and was over due for collection......so yes i probably do have an avatar somewhere in the Cloud who needs to go to the post office but that's the least of my concerns right now and i refuse to get triggerred into a drama about her.
