Sanity -> Temple Obama (8/27/2008 5:00:52 PM)

quote:

So all the buzz today was supposed to be about two big Wednesday speeches -- Bill Clinton’s and Joe Biden.

Why, then, is everyone in Denver talking about stagecraft?

It’s simple: Reporters got their first glimpse of the stage where Barack Obama will deliver his speech tomorrow night at Invesco Field. Reuters described the set as similar to a "Greek temple."

Thus a legend -- not the good kind -- was born. Said one Democrat: "This is a disaster of mythical proportions." Said another: "It's not enough that he wants to be president -- he wants to be Zeus." Said the first: "Will he send down thunderbolts from the mountain?"

Those are the Democrats -- though assuredly not Obama partisans. Cue the Republicans: The RNC blasted around an e-mail referring to the "Temple of Obama." "Tomorrow you're going to see Obama come down from Olympus to be among us mere mortals," Michael Steele, the former lieutenant governor of Maryland, told reporters in Denver.

Senator Clinton and the woman's auxiliary was in charge of decorating? They borrowed the set from an old Star Trek eposode....pic HERE
Although I think somehow this will be blamed on President Bush.

Now that he has been elected Caesar, who gets to play Brutus?

I wonder if the opening ceremonies will be some Republican prisoners being fed to the lions.... This is truly inspirational.

I liked the comment on the photo page saying Obama was a Goa'uld.

Come to think of it he does look a bit like Apophis.....

Good question. Pelosi or Dean, most likely (has Obama had enough time in the Senate to even make any real friends?)  Hillary should be cast as Cassius, though....she's definitely got a "lean and hungry look."

Thadius -> RE: Temple Obama (8/27/2008 5:32:04 PM)

quote:

He hath brought many captives home to Rome,
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:

And men have lost their reason…. Bear with me;

Just a thought.

You were expecting what... a mosque?

Thadius -> RE: Temple Obama (8/27/2008 8:16:47 PM)

I was expecting something just a little more humble.

Alumbrado -> RE: Temple Obama (8/27/2008 8:43:31 PM)

Something low key and homey perhaps?

christine1 -> RE: Temple Obama (8/27/2008 8:52:51 PM)

*Obama comes down from the mountain*
"Verily I say unto you. I shall lead you to higher taxes, lowered security, higher unemployment. All in the name of that powerful word.......change."

Sanity -> RE: Temple Obama (8/28/2008 3:44:38 AM)

Listening to Biden last night, Biden was playing the part of Moses.

"Bow ye unto thy one true Obama and ye shall certainly see... with the wave of  but one almighty Obama hand, all the nation's people shall have insurance, and milk, and honey, and pots full of chickens. And the nation shall be respected, and all her worldly enemies shall beg at her feet for mercy and forgiveness, lest they be smitten."

As long as he triumphs over McSatan, I don't care what kind oif stage props he has.

Mccain may have been on to something when he mocked the connection between Obama and Britney Spears

quote:

DENVER - Democrats will kneel before the "Temple of Obama" tonight.

As if a Rocky Mountain coronation were not lofty enough, Barack Obama will aim for Mount Olympus when he accepts his party's nomination atop an enormous, Greek-columned stage - built by the same cheesy set team that put together Britney Spears' last tour.
