I have an eyebrow piercing. I recently got hired into a 6 month contract position with a pharmaceutical company. I went through three different interviews and today someone tells me that while it is okay to wear dangly earrings it is not okay to wear my eyebrow piercing because it is weird and the company does not allow that. I say it's a 6 month position with no possible way of it becoming permanent ( something discussed in the interview by both my and the people hiring me) Soooooo is it possible short of sticking a bandaid on my face to conceal a piercing?

You're going to wear a band aid for 6months? I think the ring would look alot more attractive.  Did you wear it during your interview?

I was hired through a temp agency and then I interviewed with the pharmaceutical company and then interviewed with the temp agency (another agent at another location) today while I was picking up my badge another employee of the temp agency whom I had never met before said I needed to take out the ring the pharmaceutical company wouldn't allow it. Meanwhile I had the ring in the entire time I met with everyone else

I've heard of people using fishing line.  They also make clear rings you can put through the hole, so that you don't see the piercing.  At the same time you can still keep it from closing up till you can put metal through it again.  Not sure where to get them, but they probably have them at any piercing place or place where you can purchase the regular jewelry. They're called "retainers"

I would ask directly to those that hired you.  The person that gave you the "heads up" might have just been projecting their own opinions on to the company.

If it is part of the company's dress code to forbid piercings, generally, companies expect temps to abide by the same dress code as everyone else who works there.  Sometimes even vendors are expected to comply.

you're not going to be at work 24/7 imp - what about taking it out just before you leave the house and popping it back in you get home?  (note: has no experience with piercings)

your only there for 6 months and its never perm...fuck them.
they can handle it for 6 months.

but it probably wont look as bad as you think with it off.  i have a scar up there on my brow that you cant see when i get wax/tint...  because the shaping covers it up.  the scar is from a fall when i was like 5.

Get a retainer... it's hard to find a good one though, most are cheap and pointy

Thanks everyone. Someone said I could get a flesh colored barbell take the ends off and leave the bar in while I was at work.

Abiding by the rules isn't an issue. However, I should have been told up front about the eyebrow ring if it was an issue not a few days before I started. It was clearly displayed the whole entire time. Taking it out and letting it scar for a job that is only 6 months max and the chances are slim that by my choice I'll even be staying there that long is just bleh. If it were a permanent job then sure I'd take it out no problem.

I'd leave it in. If they say anything at the Pharmaceutical Co., then worry about it. Until then, if nothing was said during the interviews, don't worry about it.  If you never met w/the 2nd temp agency employee before/she just said it in passing as you picked up your badge......probably her own preference.

Good ideas and I went and talked to the tattoo guy he said don't bother with the retainer just buy heavy industrial fishing line heat one end and stick it in.. It's fair more efficient than the retainer.

It is a big whoop to a company that has a professional dress code.  they are allowed to set a standard.

The thing with temp jobs is that they still get you experience that looks good on a resume.  They can now be a referral for future jobs.  How good a referral depends on the employee, and I feel that, even though you're considered a "temp" employee, you should still present yourself as though you just landed the job of your dreams. Also...temp jobs many times lead to things better and more permanent.  Or, maybe 6 months end up being 9 months or 12 months.  Maybe, God forbid, an employee gets run over by a bus or dies unexpectedly.  Now there's a job opening and maybe you can move right into it.  Or, a co-worker knows of an opening in another company, maybe her husband or sister is the hiring manager.....More reasons to just suck it up and toe the line.

(The above are general statements not directed directly at the OP)

To the OP:  assuming your avatar is an actual photo of yourself....what about a new hairstyle with fringy layered bangs that will cover the piercing?

I actually think the fishing line will do the trick. It's transparent enough and I can cut it short enough that you shouldn't be able to see it

If you do go the fishing line route, use heat to melt the ends.  Round off the sharp edge on the bottom and make a little ball for the top so gravity doesn't pull it through and out over the course of the day.  Otherwise, just buy one of the clear retainers made for situations like yours.
