Here is a question I have no doubt has been asked here before, but because I haven't see it I'm going to ask it again now.

Sleeping in bondage...who does it, and to what extent?
Who has had experience in this?

As for us, before the kids came. Several nights a week my wife would sleep with her hands cuffed in soft cuffs, and connected to a chain that ran to the headboard. And she would also have one ankle connected to the foot of the bed. This allowed her to turn over and move about some during the night, but I kept the chains short enough that she couldnt touch anything stimulating, and of course couldnt stop me from touching either. lol.
A few years ago though, I was in contact with a couple that had gone a bit further with the sub's sleeping bondage. She slept on the floor, her wrists almost directly chained to one leg of the bed, her ankles almost directly chained to another. She had maybe a couple of inches of play at either end. But it was how they got her there that I found interesting. When they first started training her to sleep that way, she started out with a couple of feet of chain at both her hands and her feet. But over the space of several months they slowly shortened the chains to their current lengths, giving her body time to get used to the slowly increasing restriction. It seemed to work for them, and wonder if anyone else has tried anything like this.

I am often chained to him at night. It is a wonderful space to move into to sleep well.
Im so sensitive to the chain, that i cannot fall asleep whilst he moves it now and then. Once he's still, the chain is quiet, then it is my turn to sleep. Haven is a place on earth.

We have left restraints on and fallen asleep. I usually wake up marked, not in a good way.
NB. Hold up stockings, burn through your thigh skin, if left on long enough. Ouch.

Oh, and when i first wore my corset, i wanted to sleep in it, (Duh!), well had to get it off so i could breath in to snore.

Master sometimes has me sleep in wrist and ankle cuffs, they are red suede, i love them, they are attached to the bed with rope.

I've enjoyed it on a handful of occasions- from just being cuffed together, to a spandex bodysuit or all trussed up in rope.

I can't say they were the most restful nights I've had...but they were divine in their own right.

The annoying thing can be of course the waking up to pee...

i have a fantasy about being chained to the footboard by one ankle; chains and nice fur-lined cuff, locked. Chain allows me to go to the bathroom if necessary. i don't know whether i'd actually do this; i have a bit of a phobia about house fires and i would fear my One could not find the key. Maybe i'd be happier with an unlocked cuff; kept in place out of obedience. (Fantasy no. 10,854, LOL.)

I have a sleep cuff that I use on fawn sometimes. It is not attached to anything, just a cuff that fits on her wrist. she seems to enjoy the feeling of it, but it's that waking up to run to the bathroom thing that would make a chain attached to it a bad thing.
Also if there is a late night emergency, it could be bad for getting out quickly otherwise.
Although it could be fun to explain to a cute lady paramedic why she is chained up ;-)

My very first extended bondage session was with a man who had an extreme fetish for it. I had know him as an aquitance so speaking to him before the session was crucial.Within the first hour we discussed the type of bondage that he liked and what he wanted and how it made him feel. The rope I used was from Rainbow Rope a known BDSM vendor. Good quality and great colors.

He also instructed me on how to tie the knots so that they would be confining and comfortable enough not to lose circulation for the hours he was in them. He was also ball gagged and blind folded.

It was during a party that this session took place,he was laying on a sofa with people moving around him so he could feel the heat and cold of people stirring about that was for 6 hours. He was allowed to urinate in the restroom as this was not a scene for degradation. He was also able to eat and drink blind folded. [:)]

Later that evening he was escorted to a bedroom where he bonds were loosen a bit the ball gag removed but the blind fold was still kept on. Beside the frequent checking in on him he also had a baby monitor placed in the room during the evening so I could hear if he was in distress. I also had a slave often go in quitely to see how he was laying from time to time. He was unaware of this which made it perfect.

This session was approximately 16 hours long and it was the best day and night as well as sleep he has ever had to this day.. LOL [:D]

I have to say I am against this for a couple of known reasons. let me say if done under a well controlled scene that is one thing though this is another. The obvious has been stated such as night time emergency, fire etc...Another issue which this raises, and I have real life experience with this, is a released submissive or slave through whatever way, release, death of partner, even partner being away on business. I have helped several women who found that they could not sleep any longer without restraint and were cuffing or in some way restraining themselves to sleep while living alone. A very dangerous thing and emotionally horrible for the submissive/slave and to watch her/him go through as well. The restraint becomes security, a deeper feeling of the bond of belonging to or being owned by a Dominant. I have assisted 2 friends and treated another for this as a result of bedtime restraint.

I strongly do not recommend it unless certain conditions are met for safety and then what will you or she do once it is stopped. Done long enough, it is a most difficult thing to recover from and many submissives/slaves will jump to *any* available Master (usually not but a pure sadist) who will do this for them.

Nice fantasy. Thankfully, my partner shares it.

For safety, I've placed keys for her bonds in a sealed envelope. We also use the one-ankle method you describe, and when she's chained the envelope is kept within her reach. That way if I can't find the keys/have fallen asleep and am not waking up/had a heart attack/whatever, all she has to do is open the envelope, unlock herself, and she's free.

This works for her and doesn't diminish her feeling of captivity, I'm told, and she's never opened the envelope. I don't recall if I described dire consequences for opening the envelope and using the key frivolously, or what, but she hasn't used it.

i have actually on many occasions (when there are no kids in the house) put myself into bondage wearing my 4 cuffs, and chaining my ankles to my wrists, or other forms of attachment. my cuffs fasten securely, but they are not locked. i can get in and out of them if i need to fairly quickly. to attach to the chain, i use quick release connectors. i love the feeling of sleeping bound in some way. i have also often slept in cuffs (wrist and ankle) when with my dominant of the time, and never had any adverse effects. mostly, as in other things, it's a matter of common sense and precautions.

edited to add: i have done this as it makes me feel good and right, not that i no longer was in a situation where it could be done to me by another. i sleep quite well when i don't do it, and i've never just quickly "run" to the next dom, dick, or sid who wanted me; i still maintain my selectivity.

To address the question of safety/emergency situations -- I don't use locks when attaching chain to cuffs, I use carabiners (available cheaply from any hardware store and often sold as keychains). They can't come off accidentally, will hold up to any struggling, but can be easily opened up by both myself or the sub if necessary. As Candy says, it's trust and obedience that keeps a sub bound. The chain, cuffs and 'biners are just props. This is also something a sub could easily do for themselves without any fear of being "trapped" should something go wrong.

Another trick is to replace one link of the chain with a wire tie and have scissors handy. The tie can be easily cut but can't be reattached so you know if he or she has used the "scissors safeword."

My approach to this was to fasten the chain in a loop, using a quicklink, around the leg of the bedframe. The loop is then tied to the bedframe with thread, using a rather tricky knot. The chain is long enough that she can get to the toilet (about 20 feet). It is locked to a leather cuff around her ankle.

If something were to happen, like a fire, it is possible for her to quickly lift that corner of the bed enough to break the thread and get the chain free. If I were in the bed it would be very difficult to do this without my notice. If I were not in the bed, I would notice the broken thread. I doubt that anyone would likely be able to replicate the knot I use, just by looking at it.

I quite enjoy sleeping with my girl while she's bound but I have my own methods for reasons of safety and the general need for sleep to be *restful for both of us*.

Firstly, if she's gonna be tied, she sleeps in the bed with me - so I'm likely to be awoken by any sounds of distress from her. Also, I see little point in owning a female slave if I can't enjoy the feel of her naked body against me so I'm not one for having her sleep on the floor etc. I've occasionally punished by not allowing her to sleep with me - which means she's slept *unbound* in another bed.

Secondly, if it's about sleeping while bound then the bondage side of it dictates her hands are bound behind (where they belong) both as unrestricted access for me and none for her. For reasons of safety and comfort, she only sleeps with light leather cuffs (non padded as they tend to become hot or sweaty) and I bind them with a double-ended "dog clip" rather than the usual padlock so I'm not fiddling for keys in the dark in case of emergency. I've also used a short piece of rope tied with a firm slip knot or bow. Of course, if she tries hard enough, she can escape from clipped cuffs but it's never happened.... Doing so means a bondage ban and neither of us enjoys that!

I've actually found it quite baffling at how well-rested the bound subs I've slept with have awoken! Sure, there's some physical stiffness etc but mentally they're usually quite refreshed and relaxed. Still, it's not something I'd do *every* night or even most nights but it's an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

Did you mean tied in a Spandex Bodysuit? I think Spandex in bed it the best feeling, tied or not. And then with Bobby Pins on the Nipples under it, they are so sensitive. What a beautiful feeling.

I have slept a few times with my Leather Writs and Ankle Cuffs on, with just the Wrist Cuffs attached with a Double Ended Clip....in case I have to make a Potty Break without waiking the Wife.

When with Sir I sleep in locked collar, wrists and ankle cuffs locked with about a 12 inch chain inbetween the cuffs. I stay that way throughout sleeping and generally until after breakfast which I make with my chains on. I actually feel more secure sleeping that way and sleep more soundly but of course I am not left alone either. The chains are long enough at 12 to 14 inches that i have plenty of freedom with which to move around but the weight feels wonderful.

Well this is all great! All very realistic and sensible. No one sleeping in bondage bags or vacuum beds or hung from the ceiling bound tightly in chains. LOL.
What I was really happy not to see was anyone claiming to sleep while gagged.

My opinon about this is the same as in all bondage...yes, there are risks and safety issues, but the duty of both Dom and sub is to work to reduce those risks to what they can both agree is an acceptable level.
This means, if there is no way for the sub to release themselves, that there is enough trust that the Dom knows what to do in an emergancy, and that no matter what the bondage, some thought and planning has gone into what they are doing.
You cant plan for everything I know, but then even sleeping under covers with no restraints at all has risks.

I dont think i could do it... i move too much at night... but in the past i had a few of my subs handcuffed to the bed they slept ok... but its not their choice, if i want them tied up at night i will have them tied up.

as a slave i have often had to sleep in leather restraints with a long chain attached to the bed, the chain is long enough to reach the bathroom.
i am never left alone in the house when chained up, wich is a good thing.
