Well, even with drawdowns, the troop levels have to be there to rotate.  It is getting increasingly hard to get folks to join, so more recruiting monies are spent, then no matter what, the tanks gotta be polished, the blowed up helmets gotta be replaced, the sand has to be cleaned outta the helicopters, it costs alot more to fly them back and forth with the gas and whatnot, who is to say?  Might be a horse apiece.
They are looking at a hell of a hospital bill at some point because this cannot go on as is. WW2 is about done, Korea is past the high point I should think, Vietnammers are old geezers and coming into their problems, lotta desert storm, desert shield and of course now mother of all wars folks coming back.....

And nobody here has said they dont believe in afghanistan, whether or not we agree with the way it is run..............

I dunno what the number is, it is significant. Put that number in our economy....

Ron

Ron,

Obama is talking about increasing the size of the military, at least that is what he says, so one would have to assume that the cost of recruiting would be going up anyways.  He may pull a Clinton and cut the size of force, who knows.

One thing we do know is that both sides are talking about scratching the fleas on that bitch of a battlefield called Afghanistan.  If you think shit is bad now, well we can only guess what it will be like based on history, eh?  Regardless, of wheter we the people agree or not with going deeper and harder, it is gonna happen.  So no savings there.

Simply an observer of this one,
Thadius

It has nothing to do with a Republican mindset, it has to do with it being my money. Is revenue higher or lower than when the tax cuts were put in place?

OUT OF CONTROL SPENDING AND 2 WARS are responsible for the huge budget problems. I think your concept is the one that is utter bullshit, how about holding congress and this president responsible for the frigun deficits? I look forward to your proof that lower tax rates are responsible for the budget deficit, please include where revenues went down from the tax cuts.

I now return folks to their normally scheduled debates.

Your position is unsubstantiated by the facts, and you are living in an ideological fantasy land. Just remember, there's the world you want to live in (cutting taxes cures a budget deficit) and the actual world we live in (cutting taxes has never cut the federal budget deficit.)

Fantasy? Show me the numbers that say revenues have gone down.  I suggest that the lower taxes have kept us from going into a complete tailspin.  That the budget deficits are related to OUT OF CONTROL SPENDING AND THE 2 WARFRONTS.  Please prove me wrong.

I will give ya a hint, take a look at what happened when taxes were cut under JFK...

Why are we not talking about controlling the outgoing money here?  You sound like a college kid spending the money like there is no tommorrow, and figuring I can always ask my parents for more...  See that is where the difference is in our positions.  I see it as my money being spent, not the governments.
