I also sent this link out to some friends and got the following message back.VF Why you are no longer eligible for President.. You can feel free to leave your comments on our Blog.... In the meantime, watch a brief message from Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton!! In Late August I came upon a link in FaceBook. It showed a High School buddy running for President of the United States. Seeing how cool it was I followed the instructions to embed it in my site. I laughed at seeing my two dogs, wife, and daughter running for president, and sent it off to about 100 of my friends, with a link to my embedded image at www.thelopezfamilyonline.com. Two days later, I get a call from my ISP informing me that I was using a huge amount of bandwidth. Much to my surprise, my friends had sent it all over the world. I scrambled to keep it going, I thought that the joke would have a bigger impact if the domain name wasn't the 'thelopezfamilyonline.com' so I found that Inews3.com was available. I pointed the new name to the site and sat back and laughed in the knowledge that people were enjoying this. On Friday September 5th, while shopping for a backup generator for Hurricane IKE, (I live in Miami, Florida) I received a call from a gentleman that identified himself as the creator of the video that I had Embedded in our site. I told him I would have to call him back as I was out of the office on my cell phone. He threatened to call his attorney if I did not respond. I got the generator and headed back to the office. Once there I called him back. He told me that what I was doing was illegal. I told him that the site had given me the permission to embed the video and that is exactly what I did. He told me he was a HUGE company and would make my life very difficult if I did not stop. I suggested to him that we work together in maintaining the site up. I would be happy to place notices giving him full credit for his work, I had already had a link to the place I got it from since day one, he wasn't interested. He told me to expect a letter from his attorney, I confirmed with him my contact information, as I figured an attorney would be able to state law as a basis for the request rather than simply using emotion. On Tuesday September 9th, I received via email a letter from an attorney stating all sorts of legal infractions. I consulted with a copyright attorney, the first thing I learned from my counsel is that copyright litigation never ends, the only parties who gain are counsel. I have attempted to contact the attorney, but all I get is Voicemail. I also sent the attorney several emails and even cc'ed his client, still no response. This was meant to be fun, it is a shame that you are reading this instead of being redirected to a site that would provide pleasure and enjoyment. It is also a great loss to the attorney's client as you could have been redirected to their site and his traffic would have increased. So corporate greed once again reigns over common business sense. Thank you all for sharing in the joy that this site was able to bring. For those that left your emails and comments we will soon send you an email with some cool pranks.
