slvemike4u -> Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:09:04 AM)

In a "blow"to all those who were looking forward to hearing Bush bumbling thru a speech at the Republican Convention ,The White House has announced that due to Gustav both the Pres and the VP will miss the convention..

NumberSix -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:12:58 AM)

I would think with the what? 23% approval rating?  There wouldn't be much to be said to inspire anyone.

That's more the reason.

What would your reaction have been had they went, as Gustav was bearing down?

kittinSol -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:13:59 AM)

Oh man, what a surprise [sm=biggrin.gif][sm=biggrin.gif][sm=biggrin.gif]. I wonder why [sm=idea.gif]?

"Bush and Cheney: our favourite liability."

Pelosi spoke and the DNC convention.

What is Congress's approval at now?

About half of the Presidents, something like that?

My reaction would have been: "Well, it wouldn't be the first time the snide little fucker fiddled while New Orleans drowned."

Anyone want to make bets he actually goes back to Crawford during the RNC, or plays golf instead of doing his job?

Sanity,I am not questioning the decision,I do believe it is the right thing to do.On the other hand it is a stroke of good fortune for the Republican Party that these two fools will not be making prime time speeches to the nation, reminding everyone of the incompetence of the last 8 years...

My reaction would have been, oh; what the fuck Dick?  Whadda you say we go?  It ain't like we are gonna do anything down there in Louisianna anyway...

Geo.

Good old Gustav, aye? What excuse could they have used, were it no for Gustav [:D] ?

It's so pathetic: it seems like nothing's too low for them... Dick and George are so fucking terrified of their own party because of their various fuckups (too numerous to list here), they can't muster up the courage to face the music. I LOVE it :-) .

Sanity -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:20:15 AM)

What stroke of good luck did Dems have that kept Carter from speaking at their convention this year, I wonder.

slvemike4u -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:22:55 AM)

I wonder how loud the hooping and hollering going on at McCain's campaign is.They must have convinced themselves that God himself is on their side(the first dividend of choosing a social conservative as VP?)

bipolarber -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:24:37 AM)

Yeah, that's the thing... since WHEN does a sitting President need to go into a disaster zone? He has people he's appointed, who are supposed to take the reigns when stuff like this happens. Georgia got invaded by Russia... why the fuck wasn't he jetting off to oversee the situation there? (Hint: we was going on vacation again.)

No one believes this shit anymore. He's staying away because he and the party know that he's not just a lame duck... he's an albatross around their necks.

As it is, the talking heads will have a feild day with yet another transparent Bush lie.

bipolarber -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:26:27 AM)

Oh, hey, as long as we have so many "link crazy" fact checkers on here... would one of you be good enough to find out when the last time was that a sitting President avoided giving an address to their own convention?

I'm betting zero.

NumberSix -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:26:43 AM)

It isn't a design of image and we all know it.

Most of the congress went to their respective conventions, (except for those in jail and still blowing others in the MSP airport (why; I'm surprised there was anyone seated at all))

So, you mean the President of the United States wouldn't have been given phones, space, communications, ANYTHING HE MIGHT THINK HE NEEDED (including hipwaders),  flown in experts from around the globe, had every fucking airplane shoveled off every runway that didn't belong to his administration and hop AirForceOne and beat Gustav down to Lake Charles or Baton Rouge or New Orleans or anywhere in the world?

And he can't stop by and say, " Hi guys, can't hang with you all, gotta go fret about Gustav now, have a nuke beer for me."  ?

Who is bullshitting who, here?

Ron

It isn't like Bush lost in a huge landslide last election - in fact, he beat your guy. Not everyone hates the president like the far left does.

So, what you are saying is, he has recorded some yet unrevealed little sumpin sumpin hehehehe sorta message to play at the convention?

Ron

Owner59 -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:38:29 AM)

After his photo op, he`s going to Camp David for the duration of the storm, not the political one,the real storm.

How is that any different than going to the repo-convo?

Anyone who says he`s not going in order to do his job is lying,to themselves.

Is this the 1st time in American history that something this has happened?

Go`n to google,lol

Sanity -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:38:45 AM)

What I suggested was that the far left would be going apoplectic if he attends while a hurricane was bearing down, but if he doesn't attend you get what we see here...

But go ahead on, I'm enjoying the show  [sm=popcorn.gif]

Oh, that would be perfect! What a great image that would be. Goeorge Bush, his huge flying monkey head projected the size of "The Great and Magnificent OZ" above the convention floor, telling the faithful how wonderful things are now... (in the best Orwellian double speak he can come up with) very much the personification of "Big Brother."

If that happens, I hope a marathon runner breaks into the hall, carrying a sledge hammer, a la the Apple ad...

GreedyTop -> RE: Bush and Cheney stay away (8/31/2008 8:41:26 AM)

HEY!! watch the flying monkey slams! SOME of us flying monkeys take that kind of comparison poorly!!
