Well, well, well.  I hope that says what I believe it does.

Any sub of mine had better have more important things to do than hang out on the boards.  And if he doesn't, I'm sure I can find something. [:D]

MsStarlett -> RE: Can your sub debate you on the forums? (9/2/2008 5:24:29 AM)

Oddly enough, most of my boys with accounts here do not post on the boards.  I doubt the majority of them even READ the boards.  Only my best boy reads the messages here, mostly, I believe, to see what I'm interested in.  (That's part of what makes him my best boy.)  However, he rarely posts.  (His post count is somewhere around 10.)  So far, we haven't found much that we disagree about... aside from trivial things like my love of old Vincent Price movies.  Should he disagree, I wouldn't have a problem with him debating me in public.  We are all people first and people have a right to their own opinions.  (Although I find it adorable when he 'corrects' me if I make a mistake.  He simply responds with what he believes to be the correct answer to a problem/question... then mutters, "But I/the book/label could be wrong.")

refraining from mentioning that you have over 300 posts yourself (oh, wait, i guess that's not refraining...)

The question carries over into the offline world, as well.

We belong to a munch that has a Q&A period for discussion. Members write a discussion question on a slip of paper and drop it in the basket - the moderator reads it, and everyone discusses.
Rather you have such a group in your life or not, the point is the same - there are times and places where you might be discussing BDSM related topics in which you and 'any sub of' yours might have different opinions.

Is he allowed to debate with you and publicly disagree with you around people that you consider friends in the lifestyle?

It was a joke, that's why I put the smiley in there.  That way, I assumed, even Americans would get it.  The implication was that he could be doing things for me whilst I posted on the boards.

leadership527 -> RE: Can your sub debate you on the forums? (9/2/2008 7:12:41 AM)

Uh.... I actually love my wife... and have for a long time... especially her radically different viewpoints than my own on a great many things.  I have a hard time seeing me "squelching" her in any context whatsoever since, in so doing, I would automatically lose the woman I love.  In fact, if I could not find a way to run a D/s relationship that didn't involve squelching her, I'd stop the dynamic entirely rather than lose the gem I have.  I have said so to her when she worried about what she could/should say.  (*laughs* which in an unanticipated way, became a huge implied threat to her that I'd take off her collar so got her to speaking up much more capably).

Good lord, if I needed my wife to prop up my ego in that way, I really shouldn't be holding my end of the leash -- or even be married.

Short answer:  no, not so much.

LaTigresse -> RE: Can your sub debate you on the forums? (9/2/2008 9:17:55 AM)

They can debate me if they should work up the courage to do so. Neither of them participate in the forums and only one has a CM profile which she is rarely on anymore.

They don't have to agree, but if they were to cross the line into disrespect, it would not be pleasant..........for them. To be honest, I cannot imagine either of them crossing that line.

Babe, you gotta' put a warning label on dat shit.  This is the funniest post I've read all year!  I laughed so hard I just about pulled a muscle.  Yep.  Even in da hood, we still read.  Truly.  Really.  I'm not kidding.

Side note:  to those who would be offended at my addressing Venatrix as "Babe"... it's a term of admiration for one of the smartest, sexiest, dominant women on Collar Me.

Elan.

If I may, for some of us, when we're sufficiently motivated by desire, we may conclude "when there's a will, there's a way"! [;)]  We've decided to find a way to deal with life's logistics in such a manner as to work around them!  All of us have choices and can decide whether or not to "think outside the box".  When doing so, we often discover we may have more options than we initially think exist.  It's then our choice to make a decision; deciding whether any of those options will meet our needs. It was clearly a bad day for me, humor wise. Out of joint with the rest of the wWW, or somesuch.
I did understand you were joking. I feel like when I make a joke in the presence of my genuis adult sons, and they invarabily reply, 'Oh, Wow, Mom, that would have been so funny if you knew what you said... let me tell you what you said....'

sigh. just one of those days. sorry.

MissSCD -> RE: Can your sub debate you on the forums? (9/3/2008 7:19:01 PM)

In private he can and does.   He will not post on the forums because he has seen me miffed a few times.

yourMissTress -> RE: Can your sub debate you on the forums? (9/4/2008 9:43:33 PM)

I enjoy a good exchange of ideas anywhere anytime.  I have made it a rule for past subs to participate on these boards, and may well again in the near future.  I expect honesty and courteousness as well as humor, given the personality of my current candidate.  Could he argue with me?  Sure, as long as it wasn't personal.

TeeGO -> RE: Can your sub debate you on the forums? (9/4/2008 11:05:13 PM)

She rarely ever posts. But of course I'm free to offer my opinion.

Of course she's free to slap me silly, and beat me bloody, torment my nipples, etc., etc., etc.,  if she doesn't like what I say...but I digress...
