I've been perusing the site for a little bit now, looking at profiles... and an astonishing amount of 'slaves' and 'submissives' claim to be one of the following: boy, boi, kid but... the profiles who use this title are usually for men. Not just any men, but men who are usually 45 years old and up, in my area. Not only are they no longer 'boys' but they don't even LOOK remotely young (though no offense is intended. Aging is a delicate process and one to be exalted and celebrated... but if you're claiming to be young why don't you look young?)!

Is this normal?

Last I checked the terms were meant to imply youth (and I do mean numbers-age and in physical appearance)... maybe I'm just confused. Would anyone care to enlighten me?

It might also dictate submissive nature, as boys are more easily controled, or a form of age play.

It is a name and label.  Some people relate it to age play, some in lowering their position.  Some just like to be called boy.  I am 38 years of age, our relationship does not include age play and yet Darcy still calls me his girl.
 
It's like pookie, or darling.  It can simply be aterm of affection.

I'm the oldest member of my Mistress's household at 44.  I had never used the term to describe myself but Mistress (who is twelve years younger than I) always refers to me as, "my sweet boi".  It was what she choose for me.  They all call me 'boi' or 'pet'.  It does make me feel like I am half my age.

It can be a sign that someone is looking more for a Daddy Dom - someone who will guide them and care about what is going on in their vanilla life.  I am a 47 year old "gurl".  It isn't about age play for me, but the fact that my "Daddy" truly wants to protect and guide me as well as have sessions.  He is proud of every accomplishment and takes a very personal interest in me.  There are men that need that feeling just as much as women, whether they are choosing to submit to someone of either gender.

By that strict definition, then no one here should use the term boy or girl as the dictionary definition relegates these terms for minors. Obviously we don't go by dictionary definition or no one could use the term slave since voluntary slavery is a contradiction in terms.

These words indicate attitude, emotions, and relationship roles. Although I have myself usually considered boi and grrl or gurl to indicate some gender bending.

That's part of where I'm getting confused as well...

oh well, I'll throw it up in the air. It doesn't really bother me, just perplex me.

In my HO, in the heart of every Man, there is a boy, just as within every woman there is a girl. That is the part that is filled with playfullness, wonder/amazement. My favorite part. I love to be "the girl" to "the boy" along with a balance of being the woman to the Man, the whore to the whore Master etc..[sm=seesaw.gif]

Thechnically, no one involved in the scene can be a "boy" or a "girl" in a legal sense. In BDSM, we only deal in consenting adults. So obviously, this title is one that serves a secondary function. It's a way of declaring both their status (boys and girls are more dependant on their "adults" to show them the right way, thus submissive.) and it can also be a term of affection, as boy or girl is sort of a denotation of them being loved and protected by their dominant partner.

If the term "boi" is throwing you, I can hardly wait until you start coming across human ponies and puppies...  That should be an eye opener for ya. :)

  When we use this term, there is no gender-bending, age-play, or daddy relationship implied. It's merely a matter of power... I'm his girl. Mostly what bipolarber said (just less eloquent).

i laughed so hard i almost fell off my chair..

As has been said, boy is a term of endearment.. Or age play. my Master calls me girl, no matter how old i grow i will always consider myself as a girl.. If anybody finds that to be "misleading" that will be their problem, not mine.

Master usually calls me sweetheart.  He has said you are MY good girl  so girl or good girl is not that uncommon. It is  a term of endearment at least in our relationship it is.  I can't and won't speak for anybody else.

Hrm, I seem to be misconstrued here a little bit.

I'm talking not as a use for endearment, but with people *presenting* themselves as a boy or boi who are... well, not.

Even I like to be told 'good boy' when I do something right every now and then, but there's a difference between that, and running around calling myself 'boitoi696969' if I'm 50 years old :\

Make any sense? I'm guessing not. *shrug*
