Ah Celeste, you are still as brilliant and beautiful as ever. [:D]

I think that the current President Bush is handling Gustav much better than Katrina.

[:)] ty, Vendaval ... and I agree with you about the President. I'll give him credit for learning from the Katrina mistake and not repeating it. Thankfully, Gustav is not the bitch of a storm that Katrina was though .. that's a very good thing!

krikket -> RE: To the Democrats (9/1/2008 11:04:16 PM)

It does seem good that he actually learned from that mistake (he seems to have learned from darn few), and i suspect that most of the actual changes and practicing came from others, he at least showed up this time.  Many are saying, however, that the upcoming storms will be a different story -- and Gawd, i sure hope not.

I can't come up with anything else to add to the list, but these middle of the night sojourns of mine don't lend themselves to great mental abilities (if i have them in the first place..lol).

cheers,
jk

One thing I like about this Bush is he did not throw-up on anyone while visiting them.

He also gave comedians so much material they never had to use the same joke twice.

And all the other things mentioned,

popeye1250 -> RE: To the Democrats (9/2/2008 5:03:26 AM)

Well, I'm not a Democrat I'm an Independant voter and I've never thought that Bush was a Republican just a mouthpiece for big business.
There's not a lot that he's done that I like from not enforcing our immigration laws to spending hundreds of billions of Taxpayer dollars on "rebuilding" Iraq.
Bush isn't a Republican and Obama isn't a Democrat.
But, I wouldn't go from one extreme to another and vote for a global socialist like Obama.
I could have voted for Edwards.
The Democrats are going to rue the day that they didn't nominate Hillary.

Whilst Bush seems to have learnt his lesson from Katrina and the evacuation that took place has not been a sham, I don't believe in crediting him for 'handling' Gustav.  If it had been as vicious as Katrina, there would be many more homeless and much more economic destruction, and we have no idea how he would have handled that.  He just got lucky with Gustav.

With your excellent green credentials, maybe you should run for office, popeye1250?

I mean, you've recycled the same post  about 5000 times now. [:D]

I agree that keeping his lunch, instead of spewing it, like his daddy did,on a foreign ( or domestic ) dignitary while at a state dinner is W's best achievement. He can always tell his daddy, "well, at least I didn't chunk up publicly". We don't, however, know if he messed his pants or not. Sometimes it's hard to tell since he so often has that " I think I just messed my pants" look on his face.

Oh yea, he also finished reading that story to the school kids after he got the news about the 9/11 attack. I think that shows perseverance and his great sense of priorities.

DarkSteven -> RE: To the Democrats (9/2/2008 7:25:29 AM)

This isn't exactly something he "did", but I appreciated his opposition to the mortgage bailout crap cosponsored by Barney Franks.  Unfortunately, he caved and signed.

I actually had hope for Bush as President after his post 9-11 speech and thought he spoke to the heart of America.
It was a job well done and I was impressed! The lists of others Amber Alert etc. all noteworthy.I think the housing bills of late are of a great help to many but overall, I think history will not be so kind to Old George.

I'm struggling here.......

bipolarber -> RE: To the Democrats (9/2/2008 2:16:46 PM)

And let's not forget Cheany....

He brought gun control to the fore, by shooting a friend in the face....

And then intimidated the friend into apologizing for getting his face in the way....

Dick has changed from not talking about his lesbian daughter at all... to almost accepting her as a human being.

And hey... he tipped off good ol' Halliburton that there was money to be made in them thar Middle East.... and helped make sure the contract was a no bid deal.

And his "energy policy" meetings have borne so much fruit causing the nation to prosper as never before...

Right?

Bush and something good.....Bush and something good....*taps my head and mutters "think, think, think"*.........I'll get back to you.....

Celeres -> RE: To the Democrats (9/2/2008 8:57:47 PM)

I think President Bush handled the days/weeks immediately following 9-11 very, very touching. Honestly. I think he did an excellent job uniting America and rally support to the lives that were lost.

Despite his 99-yard pass, he fumbled in the Middle East. He failed to make a touchdown. In comparison to his father, who was able to invade and withdraw the majority of his troops in the matter of months. I won't bore you with any statistics but needless to say, I'd much rather see President G. H. Bush run again, as opposed to G.W. Bush or McCain.
