I arrived in Manhattan in 2006 to do some post grad work at Columbia Uni.
As an "available" (single, footloose and fancy free) Domme, I went straight to TES the day my plane landed. They were friendly, but it took a few meetings and workshops to start recognising familiar faces and names.
I joined the Dominant women/submissive men group and met someone nice who invited me to Paddles. At Paddles lots of friendly people introduced themselves. Paddles had some DSF workshops coming up, so I went along to them.
Needless to say I went from "available" to "unavailable" in about....oh.....2 days? There was a nice submissive man presenting on a discussion panel at TES and when he came up to me at Paddles and offered to show me around town, I was delighted. I figured if TES asked him to present at a workshop, he must be a genuine lifestyler, not a fly-by-night.
It is that easy Jack. You just have to get involved and be in the right place and the right time.
The only NY Munch I ever attended was my Bon Voyage Party when it was time to go home :(
