Is anybody here Floating Men fans? Ever even heard of them? (Hey Lady T, can I get an amen?)
Jeff Holmes of The Floating Men, the composer of the opera, will be debuting the music from the opera in its entirety on tour this fall before The Floating Men go in the studio to record it (they've ALWAYS been subtly, tastefully, eloquently kink friendly).
These guys are an indie cult act that gets raves from critics. They're also becoming quite the darlings of the southern literary community (Holmes is invited to lecture frequently at universities). Good, melodic, extremely well-played "Americana Lit-Rock" with lyrics that rival Dylan, Waits, Cohen, etc. in my opinion.
They aren't giving away much about the story of the opera, but supposedly there are a gang of kinksters of all stripes working at a beachside bar in low country SC in the early 70's. There are also hints that Gullah evil spirits are involved. The announcements say the opera "celebrates diversity."
