Okay, so to start out today I got an Endoscopy, and I was a little to loopy to ask what it was they were strapping on to my head but to describe it.

It was a hard piece of plastic that had was oval in shape about an inch or so of plastic went in the mouth and about the rest of it covered the lips. There was a peice of rubber and it wrapped around the house and hooked to the other side of the plastic. I know its a bit weird, but its one of the most comfortable things Ive ever had in my mouth, I could still swallow and as I went to lala land some very interesting things happened in my head.

First of, What is this magical bit of plastic called, and is there anywhere I might be able to get one, aside from going to the doctor and begging for a couple?

There is another company here, why don't you phone and ask them for one of each - tell them it's for research or something - just think of the fun you could have trying them all out

That is an airway to make sure you dont choke on your tongue and keep your mouth open for the tube.

This is what was used. It is actually a bite-guard to keep the patient from damaging that multi-thousand dollar endoscope. The fiberoptic bundle is very fragile.

This is in fact an airway, but it was not the piece the original question refers to. An airway goes pretty far in, the length of the tongue, while a bite guard just goes past the teeth.
