Yep HERE is our girl...the future VP...kind of fits in the the one we have now...hope she's a better shot.

not a bad fake

That pic was reported on a news program the other day as a photoshopped fake.

Really now, panic can be such an ugly emotion.

While I liked the Obama digs, well deserved IMO, over all, it was long on rhetoric, short on actual policy. Other than energy dependance, she really didn't talk about what they plan to do.

Same with Obama's speech and the reason why is because:
1. They dont know. Neither one has been president. Neither one can possibly imagine what that job entails. Nothing prepares you for that (except MAYBE a sitting VP).
2. The president is not dictator. His wings are clipped by our constitution. Even with a Democrat president and a Democrat congress....there are plenty of ways to kill a bill. There are plenty of ways to stand in his way. That was the intention of the US constitution. Limit the power of the executive because the founders did not want a king.

We tend to overhype the president's power. He gets all the credit when things go well and all the blame when things go bad.

Lockit & MzMia,

do you realize that you live in the wealthest country on earth?  do you realize that even the middle class in Europe cannot afford a home with air conditioning & cable tv?  compared to other countries, our country ain't so bad!!!  people from all over the world want to live here in the US, why?  the US is known worldwide as the place of milk & honey.  we are a country of immigrants!  they come here for a reason!

Vendaval -> RE: Another Palin thread/ What do you think of her speech tonight? (9/3/2008 8:58:29 PM)

Hello Mz Mia,

Her speech was a getting to know you, feel good and support Senator McCain kind of speech.  She seemed a bit nervous at first and then warmed up to the cheering crowd.

Mayor Guiliani was a disappointment.  He was negative, critical and rattling sabers.

For some reason, I was flipping past the channels and it landed on the RNC,
right when Sarah Palin started speaking.

Well I'm glad you decided to give both sides a hearing, Mia, even if by accident.  [;)]  You should check out Rudy's speech too.  The man has some comic timing.

I was very impressed with her performance.  The speech had probably been in the works for weeks, and tailored to her in the last few days.  Some great lines in there.  I think she'll be good without a teleprompter as well, and she is going to charm a lot of people.

I have to wonder if they'll do a Saddleback sequel with the Veep candidates...

Rich, I plan to even listen tomorrow night.
I can't wait to hear about all the great plans McCain has in store for us!

Okay, so when do we get to hear about how anyone plans to fix the mess we are in?  That's what I care about.  I don't care who... I just want someone to tell us how they plan to do it.  Before Nov.  I think we all can see the pitfalls of each party and the digs.. they can be fun!... but how are they going to run things?  By complaining about how some do it and how it needs to be addressed?  Well... lets address it.. real simple.  I almost long for Ross and his boards and figures lol
You won't. It's all going to be platitudes and attacks. I heard a lot of horseshit about "change", but the only change I see is the names on the White House stationary. They are not only running against the Dems, but they are running against the Republican party that has had control of all three branches of government from the time Shrub was sworn in until January 2007. The Dems need to pound that message home.

Remember, she didn't write a word of that speech. It was the product of the Repub boot camp, where they take raw recruits, give 'em a haircut and a shoe shine, teach 'em how to read a teleprompter, coach them in the dogma, and put them out there with a couple handlers. I can almost guarantee that I could cut my hair tomorrow, pledge my soul to the repubs, play the "Prodigal Son" act with my sincere repentance for smoking weed and fucking 200 or so chicks, and make a damn good showing, if not actually get elected.

There's a measuring stick I can get behind"compared to other countries, our country ain't so bad"
Well now that we have that out of the way ,we can all relax, our work here is done
BTW when will they stop using the deceptive line that line that "I told congress thanks but no thanks"concerning the bridge she first wanted than when she couldn't have decided she no longer needed...

To FatDom.. What in Bidens speech was positive?? He was put on the ticket because he is a so called 'attack dog'.. I can't wait to see him attact a 'hockey Mom'..She'll eat him alive on energy and everything else..

corysub -> RE: Another Palin thread/ What do you think of her speech tonight? (9/3/2008 9:12:33 PM)

I thought Sarah did a tremendous job in her introduction to the country.  She hit Obama's weak points with a sledge hammer and really boosts McCain vs Obama in that she is in the second line position and has more executive experience actually managing and making decisions, getting on the record win or lose, and not just giving an "opinion" as Obama did when he had nor responsibility or political liability.  He was not in the U.S. Senate when the Iraq war was voted.  I think tonights performance sends Biden back to the books doing a lot more homework in prep for his debates with this "pit bull with lipstick".  My wife and daughter are100% pro-choice and would never have voted the McCain ticket.  Tonights speech had mother and daughter burning up the telephone lines all during the speech commenting about each point. I am sure that she had expert help in writing this speech, but she came through as honest, and established her credentials as someone to be reckoned with in the future.  It WAS a female speech with the sarcasm and "slice and dicing" that only a woman could do so effectively.  Damn..I wish she was a Mistress on CM..... LOL

I am not saying that the USA is bad... I have however said that things could be improved... and I would like to know between the people we have to chose from, what the plans are for this change and advancement.  I love get to know you's and hearing the wit and the play and all that, but I also love knowing which direction people are going to take.  That shouldn't be seen as I think my country is worse than others or anything of the like.

By the way, she only has 5 children, the same as Nancy Polosi (democrat) who is speaker of the house. If Nancy has time Sarah will have time to..

Here is the difference:  Nancy Polosi's youngest child was a senior in high school before she decided to run for congress in 1987.  Sarah Palin's youngest is an infant with special needs.  The oldest is barely out of high school.  And her husband works at least part time on the North Slope and won't be available at least part of the time to help with them.

Thank you rob!
Other than energy, and the Obama digs, I did not hear much talk about what

they plan to do, either.
Can you say, 4 more years of the same/similar shit we have now?

I'll be honest with you Mia, I didn't have a horse in the race, until McCain nominated Palin. Obama, Clinton, Biden, and McCain were all too liberal for my palate. I can see myself voting for McCain/Palin because of Palin.

I simply don't agree with the McCain = Bush rhetoric, Bush is a Neocon and McCain is a liberal Republican in name only.

Obama's socialistic approach to governance scares me far more than Bush or McCain could ever do... I really hate communism/socialism.

Sorry but you wont win this arguement. Say this and it is going to be percieved as sexist to the core.
