Clinton aides: Palin treatment sexist

quote:

Sarah Palin found some unlikely allies Wednesday as leading academics and even former top aides to Hillary Rodham Clinton endorsed the Republican charge that John McCain’s running mate has been subject to a sexist double standard by the news media and Democrats.

When Clinton's people start picking up the theme "John McCain was right", that can't be good for Obama.

They are right, she has. If the same questions and comments had been aimed at HC, they would have been up in arms over it.

I think you have conveniently forgotten about the last sixteen years of Republican sexist attacks on Hillary Clinton.

At least HC wasn't a moralist and there in lies the problem for Palin, she can't live up to the standards she expects of others.

In case you can't read I pointed out the last sixteen years of Republican sexist attacks on Hillary Clinton.

The Republicans are complaining about a week's alledged sexist attacks on Palin when they have been doing the same for sixteen years.

The fact the Democrats chose someone else is by and by.

Personally I think Palin is a raving lunatic but that has nothing to do with her sex.

Biden has also said the same thing and scolded the media for it. It's all tit for tat boys and girls. Politics as usual.

Hillary's aids/defenders did say that the press was unfair.More than once.

Did the cons pipe up then?

The press shrugged it`s shoulders and the cons used the blurbs to hammer Obama`s camp,as is they had anything to do with it.

The cons were quite happy to have Hillary treated poorly by the press, when it suited them. Not once did they say anything or state they thought is was wrong. But this was before Palin.

Now,.... the cons are all over the press.Like they woke up and saw the light. In reality though,it`s for selfish political reasons, not altruistic ones. They would be taking advantage of Hillary`s sex in the worst most ugly ways.Like they have/are using Obama`s background against him.

I think the press has been focusing on the superficial and not the woman`s past/present positions,as they also did with Hillary.

But on the other hand, when someone asks about AOsex-ed, contraception or"abortion, the cons seem to bring the focus to her by saying"leave her personal life out of it".A very clever use of her gender and "situation"by making her a victim(themselves) and distracting the focus away from her extreme positions regarding those important social issues.

I`m getting tired of hearing,"Oh ,so the woman choose life and wants to see her daughter get hitched,"etc.etc. when asked about her own policy/feelings and how she would govern.

Great way to avoid answering the tough questions that would be asked of any candidate of any gender.

Though she shouldn`t get different treatment because she`s woman, she shouldn`t get a pass either.

If her name was Sam Palin,I would still want to know how they felt.

It`s clear that McPalin is trying to have it both ways,as are her defenders here(cept Thad,he rocks).

I think normal folks who are looking, will see this too.

The McCons need to be just as careful not to play a gender card.

Ooops --- MistresNew beat me to it.

That gender card is a can of worms.... especially when its played by the right.....

That Dick Morris part is priceless.....

Irishknight -> RE: Clinton aides: Palin treatment sexist (9/4/2008 11:27:36 AM)

I believe that someone exaggerates the sexist attacks on Billary.  She gets attacked because people don't like her.  There seems to be no fence riding when it comes to her.  Either she is hated or adored.  There is nothing sexist about disliking her politics, her lies, or her assumption that she has some inherent right to be president.

Vendaval -> RE: Clinton aides: Palin treatment sexist (9/4/2008 6:21:33 PM)

Of course both Senator Clinton and Governor Palin have weathered sexist attacks.  It is part of the price they pay for being in highly visible government positions.  Nor is it any surprise that both can be highly polarizing.
