Does anyone else remember this, because that is what it was originally called. They changed the name because of a Biblical prophesy.

Does anyone else remember this ? Does anyone have a long memory ? Or is everybody just lulled into the "current" issues like my puppy that I had to bat his head from the food to the water and back, lest he get sick and puke all over ?

Has everyone forgotten ? Or did noone but me see it ? (I think that unlikely) They changed from Desert Sword to Desert Storm, and if you like you can look up Desert Sword in any Biblical database. I have no dispute with that, I am wondering if ANYONE, ANYONE AT ALL remembers this.

It wasn't changed from "Desert Sword" to "Desert Storm".  As you can read in the link I provided, "Desert Sword" was the original name of the ground campaign.  It was later changed to "Desert Sabre".  "Desert Storm" was the name given to the entire military campaign in 1991.  It encompassed the air, sea, and land operations.  The air campaign was called "Operation Distant Thunder."

From what I remember from my Middle Eastern Politics class, Desert Shield was the months leading into the Desert Storm campaign.

I don't recall reading about Desert Storm or "Sabre" until I clicked the link above.

Anyway, imagine the logistics of getting your parents, and significant other and their family to a nice Sunday lunch. Takes planning and usually some bit of stress involved. Now imagine shipping between 575,000 - 697,000 troops from the U.S. to Kuwait and the Gulf. Desert Shield was the campaign to secure airports and to logistically move that many troops over there.
