Keiths show is on the bottom of the barrel when it comes to ratings. No one is watching it. Chris Mathews show isn't far behind. When I see Chris I see a heart attack about to happen. Corysub is right. He needs a rest..

Darcy I an surprised that you believe, alone with the rest of Europe, that Bush's hard-line policies were necessary or correct. Many people mistake me for a liberal and an anti-war advocate...it is the wrong assumption. I believe war must be fought all out and won...or not fought at all. Bush's policies only killed 4,000 US troops and settled nothing.

I think McCain may be following Bush's lead in this manner. Surprisingly over the wars and years it is often the Democrats that end a war properly.

But please excuse me I am turning away from the direction of the thread.

Coughs!
It is often the democrats that end a war "properly"?  You might be talking about the fact that Truman dropped
the big one on Japan and happened to be a democrat but to say the democrats WON WW2 might be an
interesting thread since many people believe that Roosevelt "got us into the war" by forcing Japan's hand.
SinceWW2 America has

Ended the war in Korea with an armistace that left North Korea intact and now building nukes.

Retreated from VietNam under democrat/liberal peacenik pressure and withhdrawal of funding for the Saigon government.

Did nothing under Jimmy Carter to end the shame of the imprisonment of American embassy personnel other than get some men killed in a botched attempt at rescue.

Did nothing to address the attack on the U.S. destroyer Kohl by terrorists.

Sent an inadequate number of our warriors to Somalia to be decimated by a tribal chief.

Democrats fought like hell to stop Bush 41 from putting together the greatest collection of allies to rescue Kuwait.  Remember, it was Biden who was against going in, it was Mario Cuomo who wanted to "negotiate" with Sadaam, maybe give him some islands off Kuwait, and Wrangle who said 20,000 americans ("mostly black"..his words) would come back in body bags.

Yes...democrats know how to end a war...retreat, withhdrawal and defeat is their ending.
Just read Murtha, Pelosi and Harry Reid speeches all through 2007 while our warriors were fighting to protect their right to speak stupid.
Thankfully, most Americans don't believe in defeat.

sorry Butch!

Vietnam war was ended by Nixon a republican.  he inherited the mess from a Democrat, Kennedy/Johnson!

hey across the pond!

unfortunately the republicans here in the US are not quite as charismatic or movie starish like our liberal democrats.  most republicans i know are just sitting back & waiting for november 4th and that is when their voices will be heard loud & clear!

Ok, if you can't beat them, join them, yet another political thread, but from the viewpoint of us over the pond.

Just listening to BBC1 news here, and there is yet more on Obama, but Mc Cain only briefly mentioned. Now I can't help thinking that either Obama is more popular and therefore more newsworthy, or is it the BBC is again influencing through it's own politics.

From what I hear over here, Obama is known by everyone, and everyone expects he to be in the big chair come November, not many have even heard of Mc Cain.

What do others think here in the sceptred Isle ? Do you see political bias ?

The real problem with the BBC's reporting and I suspect ITV's but I can't receive that, is that one would think Britain is the 51st state of America, not a European country. I've been switching over to German, French or Dutch news, anything that helps me get away from the American election. Its not that I'm not interested in the American election, its just that there is too much. In case any Brit is in doubt, YOU DON'T HAVE A VOTE!!!

There is no bias, it's what is newsworthy. Remenber BRITS DON'T HAVE A VOTE.

Nasty cough you got there cory

So WWII was our fault huh…right… Dropping the bomb on Japan was the right decision that saved millions of lives…. And it showed the world what the bomb would do. If not for that demonstration we could very well of had a nuclear war.

Lets see The Korean war… damn it seems you are wrong again… It was a Republican that ended that war.

Vietnam…wrong again… it was a Republican that ended that war…damn you must be a youngster.

There was no war under Carter

No wars to end under Clinton

We have won nothing in this current war but the scorn of most of the civilized world. As I've said before go all out and win... or not fight at all.

Up until last week, I would have assumed it was political bias.  Since Palin, I can see that it's not so much bias, but that McCain just isn't newsworthy enough.  He is politically dull.  Obama was more 'intersting' as was Clinton.  Now, it's all Palin.

McCain is just potatoes.  UK media like meat with it's veg.
