This is a question directed mostly to the professional dominants: What do you do with a slave/sub who's too afraid of germs to enjoy playing at the dungeon? Don't get me wrong; this is better than those who aren't clean enough - but still, I have a few slaves who refuse to incorporate toys and bondage equipment into the scene because they think it's dirty, despite my assurances that the dungeon is properly sanitized.
I've addressed this issue first of all, by suggesting that they bring their own rope, hoods, paddles, etc. Secondly, I've tried a bit of behavior modification, making slaves lick the bottoms of my shoes. However, I'm not sure if an obsession about germs and dirt is the same as a phobia, or if it could be treated the same way - by making the subject face his/her fear. Any ideas?

greetings,GODDESS,the mits u,
permission to speak
it cant be a germ phobia
my aunt julie has that
she sprays all around and
guests have to use the bathtub to wash
and she dont like people speaking without the lysol over their heads spraying while they speak
she takes all paper plates and utensils ,at all resturaunts,
and it is extreme.
i dont like ,others toys, either
i didnt even like the army benches full of possible ring worms up my azzzz
so you have to explain that you use alcohol pads
the same as in all the comercial c.p.r. classes,
to clean each ,of the classes' peieces ,before and after each person;
and demonstrate and make them do the same thing after use
you have a good idea to bring your own things but
licking your shoes is no generalization,
in other words
they cant put germs on your shoes ,in the same catagory, as slave germs from straps and toys and benches
so just say
like you do, with your shoes
these are ,ONLY ,for you ,
or
clean this like i do
each and every time it is used .

I have never encountered anyone that freaked out about germs..... we did have a servant who was, though! Dealing with that was tricky enough.

If assurances, gloves, condoms, etc are not enough, I recommend having the person clean the place themselves. I am guessing that you have the normal bleach and other cleaners in the studio, let him have at it!

This is great advice. I am quite "germophobic" myself and I don't generally trust anything until I have cleaned it all myself

This reminds me of a recent spat of advertising on some local yahoo groups from a guy selling used "toys". ::shudder::

I think the offer to have the boy do his own cleaning is excellent. By training him to clean the dungeon, you also are showing him about what you regularly do/have done to maintain cleanliness there.

Let me add a "me too" here. It's one of the reasons I don't enjoy public play as much anymore. It's actually my involvement in the scene, in the past, and witnessing things that probably fueled my growing phobia of germs. I have seen things...not dead people......but you know what I mean.

In the public arena, I have seen less than half the people take any concern out for the equipment after a scene, and I don't recall ever seeing the dungeon staff take care of the rest. The more private parties, and home parties, seem to include more responsible and germ concerned type of folks though. And don't get me started on where I've seen others put toys that don't belong to them.

And yanno? Harassing folks at play parties to clean up after themselves is part of the DM's job---or at least it was back when *I* was taught! So, that also lets you know how closely the so-called DM's are watching the action!
