ericpup -> BDSM Symbol necklace? (9/7/2008 5:57:09 PM)

Just returned from Ren Faire, had a great time.  I went to a jewelry shop and found what I think/thought is a BDSM symbol charm.  But when I got home, I checked, and the other pics of BDSM charms that I've seen look nothing like what I bought.

Mine is a sterling silver circle with wire in the center.  The wire has a small triangle in the middle, then it spirals out in three directions, ending with small holes in the middle of the spiral.  But, the wire doesn't completely close the circles.

I thought that the nice lady that sold this to me called it a "Tricenteria."

Did I get the wrong thing?  I like this, and would gladly wear it in my vanilla life, but only if it really means what I believe in.

Well, I did as much research as I could online, after posting this message, and found that it is a Triskileon, (spelling is probably wrong, and I'm sorry about that.)

It is listed on several sites as being a BDSM symbol, so I will be wearing it from now on.

The triskele does not have to be completely closed on the swirls in order to be the correct symbol. My engagement ring is a silver celtic triskele, whic is far fromthe standard symbol used. Your description, however could be more than one symbol. If the vendor had a different name for it you might want to make sure you did get a triskele or triskeleion, and not some other similiar celtic symbol that represents something completely different.

This is very similar, but mine does not have the knots.

wow, fetjeweller.com does some gorgeous work.  I think I know who I'm getting in touch with for my pets birthday.  He deserves only the finest, I tihnk, and those collars there look to be right about that.

I am pleased to see that the distinction between the Celtic symbol and the BDSM emblem has been made. It is a common mistake. Part of the problem is that the Celtic pendant may be worn by anyone and it would not mean an association with BDSM. The BDSM Emblem is distinctive by its colour and the holes in the black area. If I were to see you wearing one, I would know what you intended for me to know about you.
Many thanks to Lucy for the mention of my website. You have been a consistent supporter.
BKSir, I appreciate your compliment. I need to let you and everyone reading this thread, know that I have just moved my home and my manufacturing studio. It will be up and running fully in a few days.
Providing good service has been important to me and during the move I have not been able to keep that standard up.
I look forward to getting back to near normal after this complicated move.
Best regards to all here on Collarme.
Franklin, the Fetjeweller

My pleasure entirely.  I always enjoy finding high quality work and talented artisans, no matter what their craft.

Hopefully the move goes well for you, and everything is all settled in soon, I know how much of a pain it can be.

Thank you all for your answers.  I really appreciate the links, and will be ordering something from one of them soon.  Thanks again.
