Greetings A/all, This past weekend I saw Vicky Christina Barcelona, the latest film from director Woody Allen. Oh la la! Vendeval, apart from all the respect I have for your writing I will never, ever watch anything produced by Woody Allen. Nuff said. I haven't seen a great sexy movies in years...though what's odd is I've seen great horror and drama and stuff. Maybe the genre has fallen on hard times? There's a scene in 'Someone to Watch Over Me', where he finds her wandering in her hall-of-mirrors dressing room...o, Gawd, there's something about the electricty between them crackling off endless mirrors...I dunno..just does it for me. candystripper [sm=pole.gif]

Woody Allen is not one of my favorite directors but the three lead actors make up for that. [;)]

I always think of the same beautiful scene from Mulholland Drive . Every time someone asks that sort of question. It's touching and at the same time very sensual - few directors have ever managed to film two women in bed together in such a sensitive way, but David Lynch is a genius. Mulholland Drive is one of my top ten movies of all times.

A couple of weeks ago I saw Une vieille maîtresse (The Last Mistress) in French with English sub-titles. The movie is very compelling and contrasts the two women; one innocent, blonde and virginal bride against the worldly, dark and sensual mistress. Just watched the trailer - Ah, ces français fou de cul! On a similar registry you have Les Laisons Dangereuses (the Stephen Frears version), a mastery in restraint and latent eroticism.

I enjoyed that movie despite that it was a Woody Allen film (typically can't sit through an entire WA film). Then again, I'm totally in love with Penelope Cruz, haha. What I loved about that movie was the beautiful way they portrayed a loving relationship between three people. The first other movie that comes to mind with your OP is Like Water for Chocolate. Yum.

Well, Secretary, but I suppose we've all talked that one to death. (Although I still think one of the most underrated scenes in that film is the hypnosis scene... where Mr. Grey gives her the suggestion that she no longer needs to cut on herself, and gives her a yummy cup of hot chocolate, to boot.) Oh, and you might look at "Short Bus"... that was a pretty good film about sex, and why many of us seem to use it as an escape....

Vendaval, Oh, yeah, I remember that one... out in early 1992... much, much better than the slightly bizzare film "Gothic" by Ken Russel which was on the same subject, and released within months of each other. . At least "Haunted Summer" didn't have a rock soundtrack. LOL

Ya know, I just could not get into The Secretary. Maybe because the lead female character was pretty dysfunctional to begin with and kept cutting herself?

I saw Vicky Christina Barcelona over the weekend too and, I thought it was classic woody allen -- understated witty humor with great one liners. It portrayed Love as being beautiful, complicated, and without boundaries. And, it showed Poly in a tasteful and loving way. bravo One of My Favorite Love Scenes: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon -- Master Li Mu Bai accidentally touches Yu Shu Lien on the hand and they both feel uneasy and yet comforted simply by the touch. Then he embraces her hand and presses it against his cheek. ---- Oh my sighs....it may not be sexual but it's so romantic, passionate, and unfortunately tragic. it takes my breath away every time I see it ~xoxo
