MSNBC Takes Incendiary Hosts From Anchor Seat

MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election.

That experiment appears to be over.

After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.

The change — which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle — is a direct result of tensions associated with the channel’s perceived shift to the political left. “The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into what’s supposed to be straight news programming,” said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of MSNBC and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

It won't matter. The ratings will continue to slide. David Gregory is just as biased as Mathews and Olberman.

Sanity -> RE: Oberman / Mathews Lose Anchor Seats (9/7/2008 8:18:10 PM)

Sometimes when I'm channel surfing I'll stop on MSNBC for a few laughs, then move on.

servantforuse -> RE: Oberman / Mathews Lose Anchor Seats (9/7/2008 8:21:07 PM)

I had to mute my TV tonight at halftime of the Bears/Colts game. Keith Olberman is back doing sports..

Brain -> RE: Oberman / Mathews Lose Anchor Seats (9/7/2008 8:43:40 PM)

Keith Olbermann on MSNBC is great.  He tells the truth and just like me and many other people who are fed up with right wing politics and its hypocrisy.  And he's telling the truth.  I'm sick and tired of the right wing hypocrisy and lies.

George Bush doesn't want Hillary care, what a joke!  Socialized medicine is good enough for him and Dick Cheney and everybody has to pay for it for them  but poor George doesn't want it for anybody else.  I'm so sick of that bastard!  They've looted the United States treasury for $1 trillion paying for that stupid war to secure oil for Exxon and BP, Mission nothing accomplished.

Sanity -> RE: Oberman / Mathews Lose Anchor Seats (9/7/2008 8:45:48 PM)

Sarah Palin ‘affair’: big media stays quiet as ‘lover’ named
While America's respectable media focus on John McCain's acceptance speech to the Republican faithful, blogs and gossip sites continue to lead the feeding frenzy surrounding the National Enquirer's allegation, reported here yesterday, that McCain's running mate Sarah Palin had an affair with her husband's business partner.

Masternslave07 -> RE: Oberman / Mathews Lose Anchor Seats (9/7/2008 9:04:48 PM)

Olberman used to do sports in Los Angeles and is one of those people who think they are smarter than everyone else. He certainly is more annoying than anyone else. I guess that is an accomplishment of sorts. [:D]
And Dan Patrick and Olberman on Sunday Night Football was painful.

I can't wait for you guys to get your clocks cleaned in November!  One good thing about George Bush is that he will cause the first black president to be elected in the United States.  And that's the only thing good about that slimeball.

The RNC’s Dirty Little Secret - Police Raids in Minneapolis
Listen to this article

By Michael Lang on Sep 1, 2008 in Featured

Aided by informants planted in protest groups, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the FBI, Minneapolis and St. Paul police raided at least six buildings across St. Paul and Minneapolis to stop an "anarchist" plan to disrupt this week’s Republican National Convention.

Diebold/Premier Actually Admits Its Machines Are Faulty! And That It Lied About Antivirus Software...
from the wonders-never-cease dept

Consider me to be in a state of shock. For nearly half a decade Diebold has always responded in the identical way to every single report of a problem or security vulnerability with its e-voting machines:
attacking those who pointed out the problem and claiming it really wasn't a problem at all. This has happened time and time again that I'm not even sure how to react when the company (renamed Premier to get away from the Diebold name stigma) has finally admitted that its machines have a flaw that drops votes. Oops. It's warning 34 states that use the machines of the problem which was highlighted in the lawsuit Ohio filed against Premiere/Diebold. Not only that, but it's admitting the flaw in the software has been in the software for the past decade.

Anyway I don't want to argue about politics anymore. the neocons have gone too far the last eight years and I'm looking forward to change. The funny thing is I used to be very conservative but one thing about me is I am fiscally conservative and George Bush is not. I don't know how to people are going to balance the budget in the future with all the money that has been wasted on nonsense the last eight years. And those ridiculous tax cuts for the rich that they want to continue.Obama has to get elected or the United States will become insolvent.
