pinnipedster -> Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/8/2008 7:50:56 PM)

quote:

Scenario: Two guys meet in a shoe store. The one guys offers a churro to the other—an obvious phallic symbol, possibly a code word. The guy refuses. So the guy with the churro starts to massage the other guy's foot, and asks about what he's feeling. The guy who relented at first says a definite code word: "leather." The two look furtively at each other for an uncomfortably long time. They scene is just short of a wink taking place. One mentions "showering" with clothes on. The next thing you know the twosome, now each holding rigid churros, walk off together. One asks the other to adjust his underwear as a "sign."

Now if this isn't some sadomasochistic, kinky pickup scene then what's the point?

That's okay, MS doesn't have the slightest clue how to make a decent operating system.  It all evens out. ;)

Baffles me also.  The ad & the systems.

Can someone put a link to the actual ad because otherwise the linked article does not make any sense to me at all.

I couldn't diaagree more that MS doesn't have the slightest clue as to how to make a decent operating system, or backward/forward compatible applications software. It's really not that difficult, been done before, but that would mean MS putting consumers' best interests ahead of its' best interests. :-)

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/9/2008 8:52:48 AM)

I think it was just a stupid commercial with a failed attempt to be "edgy."

wewalkamongyu -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/10/2008 3:54:09 PM)

It looks like someone  read way too much into a stupid commercial.  I wonder why they didn't feel it was worth mentioning that the two men weren't   two random men, but Jerry Seinfield and Bill Gates.

pissthirstysub -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/10/2008 4:00:04 PM)

I was wondering the same thing!

GreedyTop -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/10/2008 11:35:50 PM)

Thank you.

I didn't see anything kinky or homosexual about the ad at all.

In fact it seemed to have little to do with microsoft. Is is a shoe company ad?

NihilusZero -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/11/2008 12:53:11 PM)

Um...yeah. You'd have to do some serious digging and symbolic string-tying to try and get anything sexually kinky about that commercial. Wackiest interpretation of something I've heard in a while.

AMaster -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/11/2008 12:55:18 PM)

I haven't seen the ad yet.

Yeah, see... I gotta go with this assessment here.  Seriously, wtf?  All it made me want to do is smack them both with a full shoebox, mostly Jerry though.

RumpusParable -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/11/2008 5:06:53 PM)

Agreed with the general opinion:  the person who made that inference and description up were really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really desperately reaching and imaginative.  It's just one of the currently in-style meandering "feel-good" ads.

GreedyTop -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/11/2008 6:46:03 PM)

I could really have done without seeing Gates wiggle his ass,though...

wewalkamongyu -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/12/2008 6:36:16 PM)

The person who wrote this is an amateur as far as conspiracy whackos go.  He could have taken it several layers farther then just being about kinky gay sex.  It was Bill Gates, so Microsoft is endorsing and encouraging  illicit kinky gay sex [:o]  Seinfield was on NBC  Which is owned by General Electric. The Most powerful corporations in the world are trying to turn us all into Kinky homos!!!!  [:o][:o][:o]  LOL.

monywildcat -> RE: Are the new Microsoft ads about kinky sex? (9/12/2008 8:26:19 PM)

I read the description, I watched the commercial, I STILL don't get it.  All it inspired me to buy is a churro.  I'm off to the flea market tomorrow.  Thanks, Microsoft!

That Bill Gates...monopolist extraordinaire and multi-billionaire ...is still just like you and me...buying his shoes down at the ole Tom McCann. Why advertisers think these work is beyond me.
