It looked like the kareoke (yeahhhh sp) of bellydancing to me but I didn't watch for very long, the music sounded awfully tinny and muddled.

The music wasn't music, but random sounds, nothing to dance to, and it was definately not belly dancing, and there was no veil work in it. It was titled Burlesque, but it wasn't even that, the costuming was wrong. To me it was simply mauling with the absolute basics of some sort of choreography, the sort that any basic amateur could concoct in their home. The crowd liked it, but the 'whopees' came not with the 'dance', but with the ladies mauling each other.

Sorry, I have read Gor, and this is not my impression of dancing.

More like a kareoke of strippers who simply wanted folks to think they were Bellydancers. Trust me - beladi have a lot more taste, and aren't typically seen in thinly veiled masterbation in a thong.

This and This are bellydance. Hell - here's one that even features 2 fantastic dancers. Or one that actually has what bellydancers would consider Veil Work or This which is veil work for those who aren't practiced dancers.
