Mercnbeth -> Acceptable use of the "F" Word... (11/28/2005 11:00:06 AM)

Amusing email from the Holiday weekend. On that note I thought of a 12th instance.."Have we finally finished the @#$%ing turkey?"

Please feel free to contribute any personal additions.

When is quoting the @#$% word acceptable? According to historical scholars, there have been only eleven times in history where the "F" word has been used and quoting the source exactly is considered acceptable.

They are as follows:

11. "What the @#$% do you mean, we are sinking?"
-- Capt. E.J. Smith of RMS Titanic, 1912

10. "What the @#$% was that?"
-- Mayor Of Hiroshima, 1945

9. "Where did all those @#$%ing Indians come from?"
-- Custer, 1877

8. "Any @#$%ing idiot could understand that."
-- Einstein, 1938

7. "It does so @#$%ing look like her!"

6. "How the @#$% did you work that out?"
-- Pythagoras' Teacher, 126 BC

5. "You want WHAT on the @#$%ing ceiling?"
-- Michelangelo, 1566

4. "Where the @#$% are we?"
-- Amelia Earhart, 1937

3. "Scattered @#$%ing showers, my ass!"
-- Noah, 4314 BC

2. "Aw c'mon. Who the @#$% is going to find out?"
-- Bill Clinton, 1998

1. "Geez, I didn't think they'd get this @%#*^ing mad."
-- Saddam Hussein, 2003

1a. "@#$% the exit strategy.
-- George Bush, 2003 - ????

dear merc n beth,
greetings,
you got a good look ,as standups, together, too. i can't top your funny stuff ,either. some ,of it is real genius, too, but, i found ,out, by study-definition ,in psychology ,that "swereing" is done ,by a person who feels ,inferior, at, the time ,so they swere,
in all those, instances ,
if you
re read your list ;it remains true, in any ,and, all instances, for each swereing person.
swereing"to deny ones' inferiority",or
done ,by an individual who is feeling ,inferior, at, that moment,
or time, to their circumstances.
like ,when the the press interviews a plagiarists,
about a very educated ;sensitive song ,
and says geez tell us how you came ,about writing, that particular number one giant hit song....,and, the artist ,just ends, up ,usually swereing, and, saying ,not much, else ,but,
f this, ! and, f' ,that !!....,or worse....,
thru the whole ,interview.

How about these.

1. Fornification Under Consent of King. Where do we do the &%@! ing? It's in the &%&@ing cellar.

2. "Whose thoust the %&$@ art thou?" from one of William Shakespears play. One of if not the earliest documentations of using the &*%$ word.

It was a year or two ago when a judge announced that the *$&# word was no long offensive seeing that it's used on the radio, TV, and by Ozzy Osbournes family so much in modern society.

Al Gore once asked "When are my *$&@ing votes going to get here?"
