Since the thread of "Strange Hobbies",*looks around* I started thinking about what people collect. With so much stuff out there, what are some of your "strange" collection of collectables?
I collect Bellows, figures anything that has to do with blowing would be ideal for me :)
I do look forward to reading what others collect, even if it's just dust.
Cheers!

Memories. They're much easier to cart around than tangible collections.

But if it's tangilbles you're interested in... old Apple Computer hardware. I've recently given up all but a few pieces and I'm struggling with the decision to let those go.

I collect compasses.  (sp? compass singular).  Not only did I fall in love with my first Brownie uniform, but I've been enamoured with compasses since I bought one at the Brownie store.

until recently, i had the world's largest & most eclectic collection of flamingos...i even had an old hairnet that was sold in an envelope with a flamingo on it...i have a flamingo tattooed on my left upper arm...unfortunately, there were waaaaaaay too many of them to display,so most lived in boxes in the closet...not long ago, i decided that if something had to live in a box in the closet, i didn't need it & began getting rid of them & lots of other stuff...

i also have a few Miss Piggy things, including her Guide to Life & i collected teddy bears with clothes on...my favorite one of those was Snoopy dressed as Boy George, complete with braids...

i have way more clothing than the law allows for one person, but i think that's more a fetish than a collection...just like all the sheets & towels, dishes, glasses & flatware i have a need to buy...no wonder i don't have room for the flamingos.....

I collect experiences... but I also collect religious iconography.

My mother collects anything with cardinals, my sister anything with hummingbirds, and my other sister, those beanie babies.

I collect fabric - has to be 100% cotton, dress weight - and usually really expensive

I also have a reasonably extensive collection of left-handed scissors - for obvious reasons.

I have a fair collection of wood that i picked up in an empty lot - its soft and easy to carve, and looks fabulous when sand papered smooth and oiled.

And right now i seem to be collecting parrots - i have 5 - an african grey, two green cheek conures, and two budgies.   Sir has catagorically stated that we have enough birds in the house!

Does a NASA flight patch count? If so, then I have one from the Apollo 8 mission.

I mentioned in another post that I collect sad toys. I found the first one, a raggedy old rabbit,  in a pile of old dead flowers in a cemetery near my house.  I find them in flea markets usually.  A sad toy is a toy that is really worn out, a la the Velveteen Rabbit.  It can't be an expensive collectible type of toy, that precludes its being sad.  The nature of a sad toy is that it is unwanted. Collecting it is tantamount to rescuing it (I also have a small pride of rescued kitties).  If it costs more than $2.00, it's not sad.  I have about forty of them now.
