i haven't really ever been given that many tasks to do by my Sir, but really; my favorites are just doing things that i know need to be done and then presenting him with the research, or results. It's one thing to get him a glass of water because he asked, another completely to get him one after we return from a walk in the heat and i know he may need one. Same thing if he mentions a style of music he likes, or something he wants. i do all i can to either get it for him on my limited budget or give him my internet results.

As i read on, i realized that the above wasn't what you were looking for. So, per your request, i was taught a certain way to present a beverage to him, and a certain way to light his cigarrete. both can be done subtley in public but we both know the meaning. i love both of those.

it's questions like these that i wish i had or have a long term relationship with a Dom/Master, haha.

i wouldn't really know the exact answer to this since my time with any Dom/Master was or is always limited in several ways.  but i'll use what experiences i've encountered thus far.  [:)]

most fulfilling? completing what i was told to do, no matter how trivial the request might have seemed. 

most challenging? doing something that makes me uncomfortable or not confident about.

most rewarding? successfully doing that something that makes me uncomfortable or not confident about.

ones that worked for you? ones that didn't work?  not sure what this means.

If she successfully completes them, then isn't she showing you her strength, ingenuity and thoughtfulness. Your actions demonstrate your strength, ingenuity and thoughtfulness. Such as if she mentions loving a certain animal, then you set up a date where you take her to the zoo and go straight there. To demonstrate who you are, you need to think ahead, and not make promises you can't keep. Your word and your actions must be in accord to prove that you are someone she can rely on.

So if you tell her you don't get angry easily, and then she calls saying she will be an hour late waiting for AAA, you don't blow up at her.

You should have your sub keep a journal! Sir gave me a journal about 8 months ago and writing in it is one of my absolute favorite tasks that he gives me. I think it fits the bill of what you're looking for: its fulfilling, challenging and rewarding. And it shows that you really care about her as your submissive because not only will having her keep a journal will help you to get to know her better, it will also help her to understand herself and grow more comfortable with herself the nature of her submission. Writing entries will give her an excuse and a time and a place to feel that wonderful, as I heard the BDSM educator Rita Seagrave once put it, "worshipful admiration" of you as her dominant that most all submissives crave and at the same time she'll be creating a wonderfully useful document for you -- almost like an "owner's manual". In my case keeping a journal really helped me to open up to my Sir and trust him with thoughts and feelings I had never shared with anyone. Also(!) you'll have a nice keepsake of your relationship. You can look back through it over the months and see how your relationship has grown and evolved.

Here's what we do: Every time I have an orgasm I write it down for him: time, place, circumstances, method and what I was thinking. I also take notes on all scene related classes and lectures then give my reaction. Every couple of weeks he also gives me an assignment to write about. Some assignments have been topics such as, "How do you feel about reward and punishment? What are good rewards and what are effective punishments?" or "Write down 10 fantasies you have. These fantasies do not have to be realistic." A friend of mine is also required to write about every scene she does in her journal. Another friend of mine doesn't even have a Domme in his life but, he keeps a journal about his submission anyway just to understand himself better. His favorite journal topic was, "What would your perfect day as a submissive or slave look like?" Journals are also a great way to solve conflicts that may come up in a D/s relationship. Your subbie can write things in it which she might not feel comfortable talking about aloud.

Give her a mission to create for you and open up to you by giving her something to write in if you haven't already. She'll really appreciate it. I promise.

She may or may not take to journal writing, not all of us do. But even if she does, it doesn't prove anything about the dominant, it only shows stuff about the sub and her way of thinking and acting.

Not about his, which is what he's asking. How can he prove himself worth submitting to by making her do stuff. The answer is: he can't. Her actions prove who she is, his actions prove who he is.

Excuse me.  If I'm not mistaken, this man is looking for advice from submissives about what tasks their dominants have given them that were – and I quote – “fulfilling”, “challenging” and “rewarding” for us personally and that show “creativity”, “imagination”, and “leadership” on the part of the dominant not pseudo-philosophical banter that has nothing to do with the attempts he has made to guide the direction he wants this thread to take.  I think the idea of a journal fits the bill of what he is looking for.  I never claimed that it would work for everyone.  If you have something to say about the topic at hand by all means I’d love to hear it.  However, if you are only looking to start misguided, semantically based arguments I suggest that you look elsewhere.  Thank you.

Oh my god - that is SO my own.... especially the Top Me...

my old Master and i used to play pool a lot - and he would say for every ball i potted i had to attempt to Dominate him for 5 minutes - now he knew i was a mean pool player and hugely competitive so flunking out was not an option!

funny - i ended up "topping" him for nearly 2 hours - ok well it was more 20 seconds and hours of giggling stupidly!

To bloodquail and desFIP, as well as all others. Thank you all for your input. Each suggestion has given me a small piece to a large puzzle, but the picture is becoming clearer. I have many more ideas now, ideas for missions to win her, and ideas for tasks/assignments to keep her. I, for one, would like to put the squabbles aside and rejoice in the fact that those in this lifestyle are so willing to share their knowledge and experience. I look forward to hearing more, and maybe offering my own 2 cents someday. I wish happiness and fulfillment to you all. And please, don't stop submitting ideas, I love them.

Lol, that one is sooo hard for me it is almost a hard limit!
 
The next one has to be, listen to me sing you a country song. cause country music is a listed hard limit for me.

Some people might go "commando" all the time, but since i don't, being ordered to is quite fun/naughty in a way no one else knows except the two of U/us.  Wearing a certain item of clothing causes a similar reaction, but loses the naughty factor.

For me, journaling was hard without having been given any tasks, etc. to *write about*.  Needless to say, that didn't last long.

I wanted to share my worst and best assignments so far - which were tied together in an interesting manner. 

The first time I got involved with a 'Dom' I was instructed to find a playmate immediately - almost within hours.  (Side note ~ this is now a warning signal to me, and a hard limit; I really need to get settled in to the new dynamic before anyone else can be introduced.)  This was really hard for me, and as it was supposed to be for my first 'scene' I was feeling completely overwhelmed and was quite slow about it!  So the second task, which I DID enjoy was introduced - email progress reports at 10, 12, 2, and 4 (I found out Yahoo email time does not necessarily match any other time devices I go by!).  I really enjoyed the connection this provided, as well as the encouragement and praise I received. 

Another task that I enjoyed was to write phrases on certain parts of my anatomy (I used lip liner), take pictures, and send them to Him. 

Another time I was told to wear a skimpy outfit with high heels and walk throughout my apartment building,  up and down stairs, pausing on each landing to pose as if he were watching...since I am  a night owl, no one else was wandering about, which was a relief to me!  [8D]

To me, tasking is a fantastic way to learn about each other ~ generally a win / win!

I love the ideas about journaling that you outline here, but I know some people are daunted by even the word "journal". I still love learning about someone through their own writing, though, so I think you can get around this by assigning very short writing tasks that can by simply answered via e-mail (though getting the occasional handwritten note in the mail that is also a personal document is pretty cool, too).

The most challenging ones are pretty much when he Doesnt want me to do something that (in my head) I find productive, whether its helping with something or doing a chore >.>
