LadyHibiscus -> September Roll Call! (9/12/2008 10:51:14 AM)

September is nearly half over, what's happening with y'all?

I am enjoying two weeks of an empty house--just me and the parrot!  It's lovely, of course.  No raised voices, ever!  If I didn't have to go to work, I'd probably never leave the house.  :)

On other fronts, I am continuing to force myself to be a social butterfly.  It's been pleasant, overall.  I still go through the myriad excuses to not go out, but once I do, I have fun and have seen folks that I haven't seen in YEARS.  I'm making some new friends, too, which is wonderful.  Most of my scene "family" has left the public scene for one reason or another, and I really do enjoy getting out and showing off.  I haven't found my reliable party date yet, but I have an array of fill-ins, and I will just have to keep taking my amusement where I find it.

I am teaching some continuing ed classes, but not as many as usual since the company put a ton of classes online.  A wise decision?  No.  I am sure it is saving the company a lot of money, though, and we do have to pay for management bonuses somehow, don't we?   After all, our pay cuts only go so far. [8|]

Oh!  I am getting a memorial tattoo for my grandmother!  My family will have a collective COW, they hate ink, especially on their beautiful perfect daughter, but this is important to me, and since it will be on my upper thigh, not in a work-visible location.  By an amazing bit of serendipity, the daughter of a lady in my ceramics class is an excellent tattoo artist, and she is doing the work.  Pic will be posted upon completion, of course.  [;)]

You mean that I will have to wait until it is posted to see it? What kind of classes do you teach?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: September Roll Call! (9/12/2008 11:13:55 AM)

Teasemonster!  You are welcome to take the day off work and attend my skin drilling!

I teach continuing education for tax professionals.  Up this season:  Rental Real Estate, Repossessions and Debt Forgiveness, Gift Taxation, Investment Income, K-1's, and Advanced Michigan Issues.

September's been kind of rough for me... been rather depressed and just can't seem to get anything done, with a lot of financial issues rearing their ugly head and seemingly no relief in sight.  BLAH.

On the bright side, my mother came to visit me for a few days and proceeded to help me redecorate the apartment.  It looks fabulous now!

Glad to hear you're getting out and about more, Lady Hibiscus. It's good to mingle among the other primates. [;)]

I'm settling in nicely with Mistress, though the lack of income is starting to put a crunch on us. Moving out to our own place in January is looking less and less likely. The job market here in Knoxville is just as bad as everywhere else, unfortunately. I spent the day hiking around downtown near the university looking for Help Wanted signs and following up on classified ads only to be met with filled positions and vague assurances to look over applications.

On the positive side though, things are looking up for social instances. Mistress and I attended a really cool lecture this week, met a woman who told us about a Food Not Bombs chapter that meets in the city, and found the website for the local Philosophy Club, which I'm going to join. She also told me the Sci-Fi Society at the school has an RPG night, which I hope we can get involved with.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: September Roll Call! (9/12/2008 11:50:28 AM)

Fox is settled in well, and we are going to meet my parents in a week. We are taking him to Disney World, and then we are going to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure the next day. If all goes according to plans, we are meeting GT and Tulip after we are done with Universal Studios.
As amazing as it seems, our anniversary is next month. We also announced our wedding date (approximate) which will be Oct 17 or 18 2009. Silk is helping me plan the wedding, as well as getting some help from Aqua here and there. Angel has agreed to be in the wedding party as well. Its shaping up nicely.
It has been a BUSY month!!!

ShiftedJewel -> RE: September Roll Call! (9/12/2008 11:57:39 AM)

Sept has been good for me so far. Have had my ups and downs, learned a few really good (and kind of expensive) lessons. Finally got my ebay account up and going but I somehow doubt with todays economy that many people are looking to buy new toys.

I'm also within .3 points of reaching my goal for my A1C level!!! Yay me!! I'm thinking the next blood test will be the one where I reach it! And I'm looking forward to fall, around here there are already some leaves on the ground. Time to break out my camera I guess.

Everyone has been fairly healthy and Scooter is actually thinking about retiring! That will be awesome. Yes, I really do enjoy being with my husband 24/7. Not that it's gonna be anytime in the immediate future, but hopefully within a year. I'm looking forward to working on many great projects with both him and twice.

Oh DV, that is wonderful news!  Congratulations to you and Fox [:)]

Last night was the launch of the Melbourne Leather Pride Festival for the next 3 weeks
http://leatherpridemelbourne.com/festival/eventdetails.asp

OMG there is so much to see and do - my head is spinning[:D]

Went to a BDSM club last night (Abode) and will be going to a fetish expo next Saturday followed by "Heaven and Hell" (a giant play party with national and international performers).  Planning to do the Shibari and "castration" (chastity)  workshops during the day.

At home our little princess is Half already!  Yes, she was 6 months on Thursday so we threw her a party with her grandparents and god parents.  She is adorable (of course!)

It's been a stressful month for us (my father is ill), but we are ending the month in a positive way and traveling to England for ten days.  My boy is English, and this will be his first visit home in 4 1/2 years!  I'm excited to be returning there to visit along with him.  [:)]

School.. Blah.
I started a new job last month so I have to actually pay attention at work (LOL).  That makes it a bit tougher to get any homework done.  Plus my boys need help with their homework...
By My calculations, I have exactly 3 hours a night to eat / exercise / socialize / homework / house stuff.
My car is acting up, I can't get a new one until I make some adjustments to My credit (yeah, I know, I know... I should have paid better attention to that one).
I'm this close | | to cutting My pet loose..

On the up side, I lost 5 of the pounds that I gained... yay!

Meh. Getting stressed over the weather, spending too much money, being self-destructive. I really need a road trip to clear my head, but one thing after another comes up. I can't believe the summer is almost over [&o]

Congrats to those with new ink, upcoming weddings, and littles to celebrate!  Warm wishes for better days ahead for those having a rough time of it right now.

My boy and I are doing fairly well right now.  The new semester is picking up, and we've managed to get two classes together - Taiji and Puppetry, both of which have been very good for us.  Taiji helps me stay calm and in shape, and making and playing with puppets is excellent stress relief... we've made a pair of leather-clad sock puppets that the class will never see that take "Punch and Judy" to a whole new level.  We're having some financial trouble, but that's nothing new.  My flatmates are all back from their summer trips home, and as one of them hosts Passion Parties for a living, we had one tonight.  Drinks and vibrators and lubes make for a fun time.  I'm also mourning the 1-year anniversary of the only BDSM club in the state shutting down.  The Dungeon, while crude, was an interesting place with a unique atmosphere, and I miss it.

Besides that, its all the same old grind.  Eat, sleep, school, work, hope for enough time and energy to play, realize neither of us have enough of either, finish homework, repeat.

Thanks for being the thread starter this month Lady Hibiscus!  Glad to hear you're doing so well! [:D]

Obviously there have been a lot of changes in my life during the past month as Lady Pact and I now have each other under consideration; more of a formality than anything else considering the length of time we've known each other on-line.  Yet we do face our challenges with the distance involved between us since I'm not in a position to move to be with Her.  Yet, life is good and I'm very happy over this unexpected and serendiptous development. [&:]

On other fronts, I've spent the summer working on my business plan for the animation & computer graphics business I'll be starting next Spring.  That has gone well, yet I do have more marketing research to complete this fall.  I've also started 2 classes for the fall; another advanced animation class and a digital sound class to get caught up on the latest technology; both of which are going well. MsIncontrol -> RE: September Roll Call! (9/13/2008 8:19:01 AM)

Wow.  September has been a whirlwind for me so far!  The biggest news is a total surprise and something I never thought I would say...but...we have a new lady friend that we are seeing..and I am soo in lust with her I can't stand it.  She is another lifestyle femme domme that we've known for sometime and was my house guest a few weeks ago...well you know how things happen in Penthouse letters...this is exactly what happened.  It was all very organic and natural and before I knew it I was in a FFM triad and loving life.  The friendship is amazing, the play is amazing and the sex is OMFG amazing! She is hot, smart, super fun, sexy, wild, kinky and did I say smart?  It's a little early to know where things will head but I am trying to live in the moment and enjoy the new relationship energy and all that fun stuff!

I also learned a new word to describe how I am feeling:  Compersion.   I really do feel like this and never knew how happy watching my partners enjoy one another would make me feel.   Also, the interesting aspect to this is it has made my relationship to my husband/submissive much stronger...and we have been communicating very well as a result of the situation which is a huge added bonus.

My days as a Stay At Home Domme are numbered also.  I've been out of work for awhile and finally just applied to a few agencies that outsource contractors and have been assigned a job starting Tuesday for at least 3 months.  While I love being home, I love to be able to pay the bills more and I look forward to being a financial contributor to our household again.  The boy has been spoiled rotten long enough and he will have to start cleaning and laundry again!!

So, thats my life in a nutshell.

Madame4a -> RE: September Roll Call! (9/13/2008 10:45:59 AM)

This is a fast reply.

Its hurricane season, I'm just plain busy.  I work about 14 hours a day, sleep the other ten, and get one day off.  I believe I'm going to get the whole weekend off next weekend.

Other than that, life and love go well... stay tuned

firefey -> RE: September Roll Call! (9/13/2008 4:37:47 PM)

more of the getting settled into the new home, the new city and the new jobs.  but it all seems to be heading in the right place.  we had our first official tiff last week, over stupid stuff.  but it let me drive home a few things i've been trying to get the boy to see and we seem more communicative than we were.  all in all, the best possible outcome.

heading to a fem domme tea at the wet spot tomorrow for a little socializing.  now if i can just convince the boy he's far to sick to go to work tomorrow.....

LadyPact -> RE: September Roll Call! (9/15/2008 8:12:30 AM)

It seems that part of My update has already been posted, but I'll add a thing or two.

From the time of the last roll call, yes, I did the demo.  Attendance was smaller than had been expected but I was still very happy.  I had My first 'ooppps' in front of an audience.  Thankfully, everything still turned out fine.  It wasn't a major mishap but still the first one in quite a while.  Due to the fact that it was small, I got to do a lot of private tutoring and teaching afterward.  To Me, that's always a lot of fun.  It gave Me a really good reminder as to why I do these things in the first place.

The little poly family is doing well, even if we are all in different time zones.  Hubby has made it past the half way mark for him to come home on leave in December.  I'm glad to see us on the downhill side of this.  Korea isn't exactly the greatest thrill of his life and he's very much looking forward to coming home for a bit.

My clip is in NV until the first of the month when he will be in FL for a conference for a week.  Then, he will be coming here to GA for the week surrounding Dom Con.  That's something I've been looking forward to since his departure in June.  I probably should wait until next month's roll call to talk about that much.  By the time the event arrives, it will have been over three months since I've seen him.

As already mentioned, the newest addition is My bleaux.  For those of you who weren't paying attention, that happens to be the sub currently/formally known as pixelslave.  What a joy it was to finally meet him in person!  I can't tell you how happy it made Me that he flew all of the way out to see Me.  I could venture to say that things are going well.Sure, there are bumps in the road.  Yet, the "P" family might just have found the right person to make us a family of four, rather than three.

On a personal level, the month has been filled with highs and lows.  There is an issue that needs attending, but I am confidant that this little family will see it through.
