ABC Edits Out Palin Objection to ‘Holy War’ Question
quote:

Millions of TV viewers who watched ABC News’ interview with Sarah Palin Thursday night never saw her take issue with a key question in which she was asked if she believes that the U.S. military effort in Iraq is “a task that is from God.”

The exchange between Palin and ABC’s Charlie Gibson, in which she questioned the accuracy of the quote attributed to her, was edited out of the television broadcast

Of course it was edited out. The press lied about the quote and then when she tells the truth they edit it out. Expect to see a lot of this in the next 2 months.

For anyone interested in the truth, an excerpt from Glenn Beck's column on CNN:

Here are her actual words: "Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."
Palin is clearly praying that we're doing the right thing in Iraq, something sensible for an introspective woman of faith concerned about the lives of our troops to do. She's not saying that she just received a text message from heaven's BlackBerry ordering her to launch missiles. Sorry to disappoint you.

Hmm on a task from God.. isnt that what the Crusaders said going intot he "Holy Land" ~ Me thinks it is. Yeah pretty darn sure that is even what the convinced the children to believe in in the childrens crusade. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusade

Here is the link to what they were quoting her from. She says that line around 3:50 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_Ax2nTWhVM&NR=1

If a war is a Task from God then how can it not be seen as being in the same context of a holy war? If she did not believe that God called them to war, then why state it the way she did?

A whole hell of a lot of Christians think that it is a holy war. It just isnt popular to say it.. so when called on it publicly they will back peddle. She is back peddling.

But of course no one with a Big ol R beside thier name on the ticket could ever do any wrong in some peoples minds.. it is just those crafty folks with the D next to thiers making it all up right?

What BS. If someone says something wonky.. I dont care what freaking letter they have beside thier name.. they said something wonky.. and should be asked about it.

Now if she didnt mean it in that way.. and she just got all swept up in the churchiness of the moment. ( folks in church say the damnedest things some times) then fine.. say that. Dont hide it, or snuff out the debate about it because I *honestly* want to know if she thinks our meddling in the middle east is a "Mission from God" or however else you want to put it.

I am not one of the sheep.. I honestly want to know what she ment by it.

Just as I do not blindly follow or believe any leader.

If we dont question now and in the weeks to come.. we will get what we deserve. ~ I dont like that concept.. we have already dealt with it for too long.

"Karl Rove said tonight that the longer the Democrats keep the election focused on Obama vs. Palin.....the further they will decline in the polls."
Cyberdude, I am shocked that an unbiased source like Karl Rove would say such a thing!!!!!

And none of this junk you are finding is going to take voters away from the conservatives. I've not seen conservatives this fired up since Reagan.

McCain hit a home run with Palin. The choice was political and nothing else, but he couldn't have hit that particular ball any further if he had Mickey Mantle standing at the plate. In one stroke, he brought conservatives into the fray by picking a candidate who pandered to their core beliefs, enthralled a decent percentage of women voters, corralled a portion of Hiliary supporters, and countered the sometimes silly thing we humans do when we want to be part of something historic. Regardless of who wins this election, it will now be historic. We will either have a black president or a female vice-president.

The only people he really side-lined with that choice were people like me, independents who vote person over party because I, and a lot like me, don't like the extremes on either side in power. About the only thing Obama has going for him is the fact that he is a captivating and powerful orator. Beyond that, there's not a lot of substance. McCain has the substance, and a history of bucking the Republican party on some issues, but he's shown too often that he's willing to toe the party line for political reasons. If you're a single issue voter or a voter who lumps many issues into one camp, e.g. abortion, liberals, conservatives, then your choice is fairly clear and already determined - and probably was before we even knew who the candidates would be. For people like me, this election has already devolved to choosing the lesser of evils because I don't like either one. Honestly, I'd have loved to have seen Colin Powell on the ticket. He was the only man in the Bush regime who kept my respect and a good part of that was because he so obviously hated doing what he was charged with doing.

The sad fact involved echoes something my brother says all the time, and that is that neither side really gives a shit about you. It's about power and not much else. Why else would political parties spend half a billion dollars to capture a job that will pay less than 2 million during an average 4 year stint.

It's the usual GOP way of doing things: substitute your own version of reality, keep repeating it until it becomes "the truth" wash, rinse, repeat.

Adam Savage had a T-shirt that summed it up: "I reject your reality, and I substitute my own."

Orwell called it "doublespeak."

Rove is a master of it.

I want to talk about two of your points here.. Yes I think Palin got a lot of the Hilary voters in the begining in her camp.. however when her actual views on womens issues.. and the issues in general came out.. a huge portion of them fled from her as soon as possible. I know some very staunch Feminazi's who instantly liked her for *just* being the owner of a uterus.. but the second her ideas came out.. all were in dismay.. and left her side. I am sure more will do the same. ( If they have *any* brains at all. ) being Female doesnt mean being pro-female issues.. they are seeing that. Hell you'd think folks like Ann Coulter would have proven that already.

Then we have Collin Powell.... I have wanted him to run for years. I *adore* him.. and he is a wonderful man who *truely* cares deeply for this country and it's people. However he became reviled in the Bush camp.. and they politicaly nutered him for having the *gall* to actualy speak up to Rove, and Dubbya. It was a sad sad day when we lost him as a statesman. They ruined all of his good reputation he had built up over the years.. in just a couple of years. They effectively blocked him from even being in the game.

There was a lot of buzz in DC about him being our first black prez. ( like when his book came out) So sad that isnt possible now. I sure as hell like him a whole lot better then Obama, and McCain isnt even a choice. Any one who will sell out like that... no thanks. We will get sold down the river just like his ideas.

So yet again it is the choice of lesser evils.

80% of France's power is nuclear.

Chernobyl occured because it was poorly designed and poorly managed. It was not a result of the science.

The reality is that wind and solar alone cannot even come close to the energy needs of the USA or the world for that matter. Oil and coal are still the top sources of energy. Nuclear alone also cannot come close to the energy needs. It needs to be a combined effort on all sources until we can find a renewable source of energy that is both efficient and cost-effective.

The DEAD have NEVER been a Republican VOTING BLOC, they have for the Dems in the past, and for all I know the PRESENT.

They remind me of Stalin who said it doesn't matter if they vote it matters WHO COUNTS THE VOTE.
I recall reading in 2006 campaign about ballot shenanigans in a gubernatorial race in Washington state.

Then there was LBJ and the dead voting for JFK in 1960 race.
Mayor Richard Daley's machine politics always had the DEAD voting Democrat.
On and on.
The latest BS the Democrats are putting out, another LIE is that Palin told a group of black politicians that she would NEVER hire a black. Now that is the kind of CRAP that they spew out.
That SLIMEBAG Charlie Gibbs and his "HOLY WAR" you know EXACTLY what he was doing, the whole JIHAD meme.

Poor little Matt Damon is AFWAID of Sarah Palin as is ex-Mayor and People's Court Commisar Edwin Koch.

I was surprised how much offshore drilling and nuclear power is done in Europe and I think Canada does some offshore oil too.

Thanks that was very helpful. I don't know why they have to lie.
Recall Clinton and Gore, they would lie as would Hillary, when it didn't even have a real political end, as if they were lying just because.

And if you've ever stepped a moment inside a church, you'll see that there are PLENTY of people who believe that, by their even going to work, they are on a task from God.

This is a non-issue...she prayed this in her church.  Now if she said it on the campaign trail or something.. maybe....

But by basically picking apart what she's said inside her house of worship, you're putting ALL people of faith on notice that anything they say can and will be used against them in the court of public opinion, and they'd better never run for public office.

Is that what you really want to do?

Three Mile Island was a fluke.  I live in Pennsylvania.  In the span of 50 miles, we have 3 nuclear power plants, and TMI is the only one to have an accident.

So should we stop flying, because planes crash?  Stop driving because cars crash?

Chernobyl was unfortunate.  But what was most unfortunate was people who had not an iota of knowledge, let along planning running this plant.

The French use nuclear, and have developed technology to re-use the waste, minimizing the need for storage areas.  If that technology can be put in place over here, what's the harm?
