I'm involved locally and attend an event on average of once a month. I moderate on 2 local lists and own one local list and one world wide discussion list and am the alternate board member for one. I have made some wonderful friends over the last few years I've been attending. I've been very lucky in finding such acceptance and friends. I know it isn't like that for everyone or everywhere. This month will include meeting Jack Rinella and Jay Wiseman and attending classes by both and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I have just started attending some of the Melbourne events (there is so much to choose from woohoo) and used to attend munches irregularly in Perth however I don't know if I would class myself as 'active' in the scene ...... I go to socialise rather than play so maybe I am 'passive' in the scene [:D]

WE own and modorate several yahoo discussion groups and one local munch group, we aren't as active as we should be since we decided to devote more time to the family,we do attent leather events sround the country about 4 to 5 times a year..

I attend, sponsor and/or have hosted workshops. It seems to me that all it takes a few like minded people from your local BDSM society to get together and start sharing information. Whether it is an informal gathering at someone’s house where everyone shares their books and videos to learn together or it is a hosted event with an expert speaker or instructor, there doesn’t seem to be a lack of workshops. Information sharing is readily accessible.

You should never assume anything....she may have no clue who you even are. On the other hand, maybe you do know her and don't like her and that's why you said it.

I do know her and in real time too. I'm just curious as to why she would say something like that on a very public forum, and especially knowing that the group here is very active and anything negative she says that refers to me, also reflects on the group.

Oh I'm not bothered about replying back on a public forum or discussing it on a public forum. If she had that belief, then she should have brought it to me privately herself first. It isn't like she doesn't know how to get in touch with me in real time.

Not really big on the whole "community" thing. I go to local munches when I can, I go to demos every now and again and I visit the local BDSM club when I have someone to go with. I'm not an insanely social person so large groups usually aren't my thing.

Daddy and I are members of The Crucible and we like to attend functions and play there every couple of months or so. We have many kinky friends who we talk to weekly if not daily, and I am one of the moderators on our group's internet chat board. I have mentored a couple of sub gals in the past, because I loved the way my mentor (who I met on CM) took such time to explain things to me. So, I think I'm fairly active in my local community.
