The thread on armpit hair made me wonder something. Would you reject friendships on something so simple as body hair where you'd normally expect to find it shaved off, provided that the women in question didn't stink cause of the body hair?

while i've never known hair to cause an odor under normal cleanliness guidelines, no i wouldn't.  hell, if hair stunk i'd be in trouble just from what's on my head and i don't stink.   keep clean and you dont' smell.

I couldnt care less if someone does or doesnt shave, unless they are my partner. I have friends who choose not to, and as long as they dont rub any furry buts up against me it is all good. I cant stand the feeling of hair rubbing my skin, legs or otherwise, which is why i dont like body hair. As long as it isnt touching me, they ca have all they want. I had a female friend in college who, as a joke, asked for help braiding the hair on her legs. With enough gel and glue for the ends, we did it too, one braid down each leg.

I'm the same way.  It's fine as long as it's not touching me but then I've never had much body hair.

laughing in real life DV, I've never heard of someone actually doing that.

Neither had she, but she wanted it... so a few hours of our life were wasted to make it happen.

It wouldn't bother me unless they were my lover. And then I think the whole leg hair and armpit hair would be a major turn off to me on another woman. Doesn't bother me on a male lover though. Guess it is a double standard, but I am just used to the women I am with being smooth!

being an old hippie, i think that body hair is a personal choice & would never base a friendship on it or lack of it...i shave nearly everything now because that's how he wants it & i hate doing it, but i do it because i'm on the s side of the slash & it pleases him....

I would never reject friendship for such a reason. However sexual compatibility and chemistry aren't things I can think my way into. If I find some characteristic a turn off, then I wouldn't have sex with them.

Yeah, in terms of relationships with them of romantic or more than friends nature, it's perfectly understandable someone wouldn't choose someone to be a partner they found to have charastics that turn them off.

Having lived in Germany and dated an extremely bright, funny and okay .. buxom woman who happened not to shave, legs, under arms or anywhere else .. it doesn't bother me at all.

It would be interesting to see how many generations it would take before we Americans are convinced by Cosmo and Gillette that hair on a woman's head is unattractive. Geez.. women with hair on their heads .. that's just disgusting.

BKSir -> RE: Would you refuse to be friends with women who don't believe in shaving off body hair? (9/16/2008 7:09:35 PM)

Wow, I would feel like a total ass if I were to even remotely let something like that get in the way of a friendship.  That's like saying, "Ya know, I don't want to be your friend because you eat coleslaw." (which is something I have a violent hatred of)

Now, for a partner, I like shaven...  just my preference.  Not going to even say "No, no sex because you haven't shaved in 2 weeks.",  Even a nice trim is fine.  Don't really like big ol bushy clumps though, partially because of preference, and partially because of common sense.  Hair in the teeth = bad.  Pulled hairs in certain areas = bad, and I'll probably smack you if you do it to me.

But on a friendship basis, as long as someone doesn't reek because of oils and sweat and all that in their hair, wherever it is, why the hell should I care if they've shaved their legs?

And yeah, I kind of dig that term 'she-yeti'.  It's cute.

I wouldn't base a friendship with a person who shaved or didn't shave. As I see it, that is a trivial matter and not important to base a friendship upon. In regards to a lover, I prefer a lover who is proud of his body pelt and trimmed around the groin is good though not mandatory.

my friends are friends because of the content of their character

scifi1133 -> RE: Would you refuse to be friends with women who don't believe in shaving off body hair? (9/17/2008 4:15:26 AM)

Agreed, I have never used body hair as a catalyst for friendship. Hell I consider bear a friend and look how fuzzy he is lol.
