i titled the thread based on the fact that Hillary Clinton has been actively campaigning for Obama.  both she & Bill Clinton endorsed Obama.  the Clintons are powerhouse Dems.  Iran is a "hot button" issue in this election.
i seriously wanted to hear what others think.

......you could have just as easily titled the thread "will this cause problems for McCain" based on the idea that Ms Palin was politically naive enough to not drop out of a platform that would draw the inevitable SNL comparison. However, somehow i doubt that would have occured to you.

Palin couldn't drop out of this event, it fits in with the dog and pony show set for her when the UN comes back into session.  McCain is making a trip to introduce her to the various world leaders.

...sure she could. There's always a way out of these things and theres always another way to meet people. However that wasn't my point......the OP denied attempting to make political capital out of this issue when, as plain as the nose on my face, they were. In short, they lied. It was a cheap partisan shot. They have suggested that they primarily interested in the Iran/Israeli issue when it is clear they wanted to skew it round to try to bash Obama. Spin is spin, no matter what side of the aisle it comes from.

again, showing support for Isreal is much more important than some stupid skit on SNL.  since H. Clinton has been campaigning for Obama and she represents the Dem party in a huge way, i believe alot of people would have been interested in hearing her speak at this rally.
all jokes & skits aside.  Iran is a threat and this rally addresses that.

Because it would be used to confuse voters that Palin is endorsed by HRC as well as serving to lend credibility to Palin on issues of national security.

Hilary is right and whoever invited Palin is wrong.

But, many of Hillary's voters *do* support McCain/Palin, 2012 is right around the corner.
I've seen estimates of 27% of Hillary voters who will be voting for McCain/Palin so as to position Hillary for a run at the WH again in 2012.

Vendaval -> RE: Do you think this will cause problems for Obama (9/17/2008 10:02:36 AM)

Senator Clinton not attending this event will not have any effect on Senator Obama's campaign.  It is a non-issue.

bestbabync -> RE: Do you think this will cause problems for Obama (9/17/2008 10:18:39 AM)

r u saying that Iran is a non-issue in this election?

Vendaval -> RE: Do you think this will cause problems for Obama (9/17/2008 10:24:12 AM)

You are making assumptions and over-simplifying again based on your own prejudices.

bestbabync -> RE: Do you think this will cause problems for Obama (9/17/2008 10:38:49 AM)

duh....i am a dumbass

the rally organizers(jewish voters) invited both Palin & Clinton to speak in support of Isreal.

that is pretty simple, i agree.

You have already been answered by LaT, kittenSol and philosophy.

this IS a forum

i have enjoyed hearing others point of view on so many issues, concerns etc.

that was my reason for the post

...ah, but we didn't type something along the lines of 'Obama is the devil' so we don't count.

bestbabync -> RE: Do you think this will cause problems for Obama (9/17/2008 11:14:50 AM)

neither did i.  i just prefer not to defend myself for posting on this forum.  i have seen many threads that were meant to tarnish or create political capital on both sides.  i had a valid question and that was all.

kittinSol -> RE: Do you think this will cause problems for Obama (9/17/2008 12:15:07 PM)

Your concern for the Iran/Israel issue is duly noted.

There is no game if you do not play.

So if voters are confused enough to believe that Palin was endorsed by Hillary, who's fault do you think that is?

How can a platform of "change" work when the players in the platform are seen as acting partisan?

When did we become Democrats and Republicans first?  I must have missed that memo.

Oh that?  Hell, I burnt that in 2004.  It was very low on the decency scale...the lowest I thought I'd ever seen.  Until this year.

People I know keep telling me to run for office.  My first question is...do you really want to see a politican cry?  I'm unnerved that the answer is always, "YES"  LOL

I don't think it is big enough news to matter one way or another for the democrats. Hillary isn't running for office.

Until 2012

DomDaddy, you're right, she'll start campaigning the day McCain takes office!
Anyone who tries to count Hillary out is sadly mistaken!
I'll bet you dollars to donuts that she's already raising money quietly behind the scenes.

yeah I know..however, coming from a military family, nothing disgusts me more than questioning a person's service in the military.  I didn't like Kerry, and the platform he ran on, but I stood there FLABBERGASTED when all that mess was going on.
