Vendaval -> The latest on NATO-Russia and Georgia (9/17/2008 10:31:17 AM)

Well, Russia is simultaneously angry over a visit from NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer to Georgia and has signed formal treaties with South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
 
Is this likely to increase conflict in the area or are these moves more of a cold war scenario/stalemate?

I think its Russia telling NATO to fuck off. The fact that most NATO countries accept that it was Georgian aggression that started the conflict in their shelling and killing of Russian civilians, their pretending that Georgia is the victim is reason enough for Russia to be rightfully pissed.
