I always thought the same thing, it's like "damn, don't you see?? Get the hell out!" Perhaps they thought that it wouldn't be as bad as it was. I didn't leave my home at first, during our ice storm this past winter. I couldn't bear it. My dad had to drag me out of the house, while branches as thick as grown men are falling and crashing around us. It was horrible, sounded like a war zone as we drove out of the neighborhood. Had to go the long way too, due to the debris in the road. But I can sort of understand the mentality. I didn't think it would be as bad, I just wanted to ride it out in the home that I loved, surely the power would come back on soon, AEP is all over this. (Turns out, my neighborhood was the VERY LAST to have power again). Good thing my dad had the sense that I lacked at the moment. Edited to add: The ice storm hit in the wee hours, when we were all sleeping. We had little clue that it would have been so awful. This hurricane however, there was plenty of warning, was there not? I would be interested to hear from those that did not evacuate, to see their side. Further edit: CHUM! I finally got it!!! Yes, it took me a minute. The laughs were no less because of my delay.
