During a European Pole Dance Championship, competitors say they want what they do recognized as a sport.

"Everything which we do requires so much strength. You train your legs and your muscles. It has nothing to do with eroticism. You have no time to think of that!" said Jeannine Wikering, the 26-year-old competitor from Germany.
"I think one day it should be an Olympic sport -- but that will take time. You would have to agree which moves on which to judge competitors, at the moment we all have such different routines," she added.

I, too, say "why not." Hell, if baseball can be considered a sport, why not dirty dancing? At the very least, hear them out.

I'm old, creaky and not nearly as flexible as I used to be so I'd only slug it for a stack of $10s.

It has nothing to do with eroticism?  Damn, I must have a dirty mind.

If synchronized swimming is a sport than certainly pole dancing is too.

Anything deemed a "sport" should use a ball.  What ball does the pole dancer use?

Juggling should become an Olympics sport, otherwise it's not fair.

Why, Ben-Wa's, of course! If one falls out during your routine, then it's a deduction.  If both fall out, then you're disqualified!

LOL.

Women would have to judge it, and they would be all catty and the winning score would be like an 0.35 out of 10.

Men would just go, "Huh?  That was the best!!!" to each succeeding pole dancer, regardless of the performance.

And the French judge would just sit and pout.

Furthermore; if two started poledancing and they got into a girl-on-girl thing, or even got to fighting each other, what man in his right mind would step in there and forcing them apart, say, 'Alright, let's break it up you two!" ?

It should be a sport. And it is beyond routine, what you can do is based on how tall you are, how much you weigh and even how big your breasts are. It is all about upper body strength.
