Watching the old timers come out on the field for the last time was really an emotional moment for me.  I have been in complete denial and can't believe they are actually closing Yankee Stadium and moving into some "faux" Yankee Stadium with more special boxes for the corporate suits.   You can go to Rome and see the Coliseum of 2,000 years ago...and if it was in America it probably would have been torn down years ago and paved over for a multi-story parking lot!  Whether a Yankee fan or not...every lover of baseball has to have even a small feeling for Yankee Stadium,  and Fenway Park..the last of the grand old parks.

I wonder if the fans will rip it apart and take a little piece home for themselves. That's what happened at the last game at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh where Ruth incidentally hit his last home run. You'll see pieces of Yankee Stadium on ebay tomorrow.

I think this is the worst thing Steinbrenner has done as a baseball owner. Yankee stadium is a magnificent place to watch a game and should have simply been maintained and remodeled. I will never buy a ticket or attend a game at the new stadium.

BTW Wrigley is 9 years older than Yankee Stadium and only 2 years younger than Fenway so I think it qualifies as a grand old ballpark.

Just got home from the game......No hooligans at the games anymore......ticket prices are too high....No real fans at the games anymore either.....Mostly corporate pussies and their even softer kids talking on cell phones....Only real fans left are the right field bleacher creatures.....

The very first Major League game I ever went to was at Yankee stadium.  I was probably about seven and went with my dad.   I've been to many games over the years...the best seats were the corporate ones we used to get for free.  Two rows up right off of third base.  Fun times.

How much you wanna bet you'll see seats on EBay when the demolition starts?   And sod, dirt, the bases....
I'm an avowed Yankee hater, but it was a sad day for baseball, I agree.
