Termyn8or -> RE: Indian call centres (9/22/2008 4:27:50 PM)

I don't even call them anymore. I use AOL for email and FTP and the FTP is screwed up. It took hours to get them to admit the problem was on their end, which it is. They either fix it or lose the ten bucks a month. I guess they'll have to fire one of the Indian guys and his 31 children will starve then. Too bad.

Fuck it, I have been trying to be nice, and make posts you could print and give to your Grandmother, but FUCK IT. I want to know why if I want to call overseas I have to pay by the minute, but for some fucking reason it is free to call overseas on an 800 number. This is fucking ridiculous, it's like they WANT all the fucking jobs moved out of this country as possible. Some of you may have seen the video of a meeting of these MOTHERFUCKERS who do this shit PLANNING AND PLOTTING on how to avoid hiring US Citizens, and how to avoid court battles over it. I saw that video from a link right here in this forum.

It's not the people in other countries, I agree. You offer them work and they are willing to work I see no fault in that. But what these motherfuckers do to promote this type of thing IMO is beyond just reducing the bottom line. They are intent on destroying us.

Maybe they think it will make them look better.

The whole fucking thing sickens me. And the Grandma remark, my Grandma Ruth would agree with every fucking word I wrote.

Have you ever used a call centre? It takes all one's self discipline not to be abusive since most call centres are there to stonewall and stop you getting through to someone senior enough to be able to actually deal with your problem. I feel sorry for the people manning the phones but whether the call centre is in Birmingham or New Dehli, those places should be banned and the management held to account for the crap they serve up to their customers.

you feel my pain! THEY DRIVE ME NUTS. Why can't Americans do this work?

simpleplan2 -> RE: Indian call centres (9/22/2008 4:56:56 PM)

LOL!  Because labor is so much cheaper there.

ambrozia00 -> RE: Indian call centres (9/22/2008 5:01:51 PM)

As someone who has worked in a call centre and has dealt with clients, I think most people who call in tend to forget one major thing.  Politeness goes a long way rather than yelling, screaming, swearing and demanding things from a client care representative.   They are there trying to get a paycheque and are there to help you.  Also, please remember, the person you are talking to more than likely, if not probably, did not create your problem.  They're just the ones stuck trying to fix it.  Sometimes it's easy and other times it's not.  Give them a second and be kind to them and trust me, they'll be willing to do more to try and get things resolved.

Granted, it is discouraging to hear when call centres are moved overseas or to where it is cheaper to provide service.  I realize the companies are trying to make a profit, but if people actually realized how many people do call in and how much it does cost a company to run a call centre....they'd be floored.

It's a thankless job.  Really.  Do you really think people want to go into work to get yelled and screamed at by someone who can't understand a bill, or who can't check their email and who can't make a call on their cell phone?  It's not a dream job, but it is an honest living.   Give these people a break.

I never worked in a call center, but I did telemarketing from the age of 17-20.  It was before the prevalence of caller ID, and I only called people in my region of the country.  We didn't have computers or automated dialing.  It was just me and 20 other people in a room full of telephones with lists of numbers in front of us.  Hell, it was when you could still smoke in an office.  I actually enjoyed that job; I made damn good money at it.  You bet your ass that I told the biggest damn whoppers you ever heard to make a sale.  I never gave a damn about people being rude or abusive....I hung up on them.  I wasn't making any money talking to someone like that anyway.  I rotated through 10 different aliases every night; no one knew who I was.  LOL.  If they managed to find out what company I worked for, I denied ever speaking to the person.  When we got abusive people or morons on the line, we'd be making fun of them right after we hung up.

Because of that experience, I am always nice to telemarketers and call center operators.  Honestly, you are not making a point with them by being a jerk.  Trust me, they don't care.

So, I read about 7 pages of comments. I ran a search for the original message. Looked for this plethora of message boards dedicated to the cause.
So, there are blogs and posts and message boards devoted to the cause of
"Why does Nepal hate India?"
"I like the Chinese better than Indians"
A Pakistan forum with lots of hate towards India.
I am looking for something  that screams Stormfront......and maybe my key words blow but then I went to Stormfront and sure as shit, I found a topic started by an Indian who asked 4 questions.
Sure as shit, there are a couple of people who state that the whole job outsourcing thing.

If your looking for a group that is ignorant enough to attempt to spend 10 minutes a day making calls just to jack with someone... that be it. That's your target audience.
